Knowledge Exchange
Sharing knowledge is one of the most important values at Xebia. Every fortnightly, from 4 to 7 p.m. Xebians come together to learn from each other and share a meal. Anyone is free to organize a session and share their knowledge, resulting in a diverse program that ranges from personal hobbies, customer cases, brainstorming sessions, and in-depth technological workshops. Anything is possible during a Xebia Knowledge Exchange.


Innovation Day and Hackathons
Xebia wholeheartedly believes that the best ideas are born of passion and craftsmanship. That’s why we hold an official “Innovation Day” every two months that provides time for every Xebian to focus on inventing, creating, and developing their creative concepts, plans and projects.     I have been working at Xebia full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1) Exponential learning growth
    2) Better pay as compared to Market standards
    3) Xebia is growing and everything you get to build here from scratch, so it is an ocean of opportunities. It is upto you which area you want to pick, contribute and grow.
    4) Open door policy
    5) I have been working with Xebia from last 2.3 years and the growth in terms of everything I get is at exponential rate. I have got an opportunity to deliver 5 projects in my tenure till now which one cannot get anywhere else.
    6) It is the ownership and empowerment that Xebia provides to employees due to which it is like you are running a small section of organisation on your own.
    7) I have been involved in all the phases from preparing the RFP response for client till it's final delivery and the pace and quality of work that Xebian's deliver is always appreciated by client.

    Cons

    1) Lot of pressure of delivery most of the times if you get some short term projects.
    2) Work life balance impacts if you get yourself enrolled for different things in parallel, although on the other hand you are getting multiple exposure also.

    Advice to Management

    1) Increase frequency of communication with Xebian's working at client location as they sometimes may feel that they don't belong to Xebia.
    2) Create multiple engagement plans from learning perspective for Xebians working at client location and give them regular future picture of next projects.

    Application

    I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Xebia in February 2015.

    Interview

    Interview process is really good. The HR was really co-operative. I missed first round of telephonic interview due to office load but the HR rescheduled it again. The interviewer was really nice. We started with TDD as it was mentioned in the job description. He asked me the basic concepts of TDD, how did we implemented in our projects, what are the advantage and disadvantage of TDD. Concept of any mocking framework. Then he asked whether I know BDD or not.

    The interviewer seems very technical guy and was really polite and friendly. Then we moved to the core java. As I do not have ample preparation I failed in this round. Most of the questions were asked from basic concepts. He asked me on Cloning, equals hash-code contract, Collection - what is concept of hashing based data structures, different implementation of Set, Map, there differences. When to use which data structure, serialization concept. Comparable and comparator their differences.

    It was a nice experience although. Good warm-up for me for the upcoming hiring season :).
