I have been working at uberall full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Whilst I am very early into my journey at Uberall, my first impressions are hugely positive. The company is clearly moving at pace and has built upon its solid foundations and existing talent with some great recent hires (past 1-2 years). Senior leadership appear to genuinely care about the values & culture within Uberall and the product capabilities - both existing and future - should excite everyone. Having interviewed and on-boarded in the midst of Covid, I should also give credit to the Talent / Hiring team who were extremely professional throughout. My final comment is to give a big thank you to everyone who has extended a warm welcome (many!) during my remote on-boarding.

    Cons

As with any start-up, things move at pace so you have to be self-driven, receptive to change and willing to take the initiative. There are an abundance of smart, driven and highly approachable people at Uberall so my advice is to take the time to actively connect and nourish those relationships.

    Advice to Management

It's rather early for me to comment however... Based on anecdotal / team feedback, a continued focus on improving the communication and collaboration across the regions would provide obvious business benefits (I'm pretty sure this is already on the radar!)

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at uberall.

    Interview

I was approached by a member of their HR team on linkedin (I have the tick on heavily looking for a job) asking if I'm interested in such a position and I was! Had a small meeting with the HR personnel regarding my profile, the position and what the company is about. After that I was sent a homework to do, the HR personnel was very clear that they want me to finish it asap and that if I have any questions I should email them and they don't even mind setting a small call with one of the engineers if I had any questions.

This happened on a Friday, I emailed them a couple of questions on Saturday night, they replied not the next Monday, but the Monday after... Which was very weird since they wanted me to finish the homework asap yet they are VERY slow in answering the questions. I submitted the same day the replied. Around 2 weeks later I email them to ask for a feedback especially since I'm receiving an offer from a different company and wanted to checkup, they ignore my email and 1 week after that they notify me that I failed in the homework evaluation and that they won't continue with the interviewing process. Complete disappointment and a huge waste of time imo.

For the homework, they asked me to build something using Grails, Grails is very interesting but:
1- They know I have no experience in it so I'm learning from scratch (I understand that sometimes the point of these is to check how fast the candidate can pickup a new language/framework)
2- The framework have a VERY weak documentation, especially when it comes to the tasks I was asked to deliver, also it had the old versions are not compatible with the new one so most the questions online (like SO) are irrelevant and will actually waste your time.

    Interview Questions

    • Background question in the HR interview and why are you interested, for the homework, build an application that will consume an api, map it to a model of your own and return it.   Answer Question
