I worked at |Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts full-time for less than a year

    Pros

-good benefits for families -good learning experience to move onto another job

    Cons

-corporate mindset (they treat employees like a number) -people are complacent and go for the paycheck only -toxic work culture/environment -the scheduling is so inconsistent and poorly thought out -the union is runned by inexperienced and unprofessional representatives who contribute to the hostile work environment

    Advice to Management

You need to treat your employees better if you hope to keep them. Your Chefs are highly over paid for NOT managing their workers in effective and humane ways. You have turned a blind eye to the harassment that happens in the work place to the point that employees dont bother to report it cause nothing comes of it. Issues are never addressed or solved in a way for long term employee satisfaction. You have managers... acting in unprofessional manners (sexual harassment/assault and intimidation) that would be reason for termination but you hold them at a different standard than your workers.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at |Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Good Colleagues, open door policy

    Cons

Completion of daily tasks does not contribute significantly to work performance, additional side projects play a more important role. As the title suggests, management seems to chase after the dollar more than taking care of all the guests. Highly taxing on front line staff as staff have to consistently apologize on behalf management for not delivering what is expected. Huge MNC, alot of standards,... restrictions and inflexibility in place. Remuneration below average accordingly to what people around say.

    Pros

A place to build great relationships with colleagues and teamwork mentality despite everyday pressures of the hotel business. Most people are happy to help and guide others when needed.

    Cons

As a premier luxury hotel, there are always last-minute/everyday challenges typical of operating such a hotel of this caliber.
