Great Company to work for
9 Jun 2021 - IT Sales Engineer in Waukee, IARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Access Systems is a great company to work for who treats employees like they are family. They truly put the workers first and not only have a good benefits package, but also has uncountable soft benefits. Company functions are truly events to look forward to, the Christmas parties are completely fun and truly memorable events. The trips typically reserved for elite sales people are extended to as many exceptional employees (and spouses) as possible. The management encourages a good work\life balance and also does whatever they can to ensure you are putting your family first.
Cons
The cons I will share is related to the IT department in a senior position, other departments can be different. If you are looking for a career where there is a series of defined job title changes, with preset salaries, this might not be a good fit. It is expected that you find what you do well sink your teeth in and grow. Salaries are largely based on the profit you bring into the company, and the satisfaction you bring to clients.

The atmosphere is always great. Work life balance is encouraged.
Cons
Fast paced and ever changing. Which for some is hard but for me it is also a positive.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. It is fast paced and change is the constant! The IT team was essential during the pandemic and we appreciated all you did to help our customers transition to a work-from-home environment. Day in and day out you make it possible for organizations to be secure while leveraging their technology.

Great Sales Team opportunities , Administrative Role seekers should proceed with caution
26 Sept 2019 - Sales Support Manager in Waukee, IARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
A great family-oriented working environment with co-workers who care and help each other succeed. People willing to work hard & keep pace do have their efforts rewarded. Excellent work-life balance.
Cons
In any sales and service based company, revenue is king and those who generate it are held in high regard. Access Systems is no different. This can be problematic for administrative and support roles at Access Systems. In the past few years, streamlining of duties and roles has caused higher levels of turnover & increased workloads for team members. This makes for unease among the support staff and concerns about job security, which is usually the kind of situation people who have worked for larger companies have experienced and seek to avoid. Be prepared for high volume and constant change.

Thank you for your review. We understand that our fast pace and ever changing environment is not a good fit for everyone. However, such evolution is critical to allow us to continue to deliver growth and opportunities for our employees. The sales department is the engine that fuels this continued growth which creates more opportunity for everyone at Access. We very much understand this sales growth creates additional work for service and support. We recognize the importance of a strong support staff and have continued to invest in additional team members and making sure we have the right people in the right roles. Our admin and support role turnover of 13% annually is well below industry and regional averages. We’ve experienced a slight uptick in turnover as we’ve emphasized accountability to co-authored performance expectations. In taking this approach, we strive for consistent transparent two-way communication and allow for plenty of opportunities to meet expectations. Access is a high-performing culture where our employees are empowered and surrounded by other high-performing team members.

Hard Work Will be Rewarded
6 Jun 2019 - Field Service Manager in Cedar Falls, IARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You get to work with great people who care about you as a person and care about doing a good job for the company and for our customers. The importance of a good work/life balance is understood from the senior management down. Very good pay and benefits. Rapid company growth means lots of opportunities exist for advancement. Low turnover, especially considering the industry averages.
Cons
Rapid company growth and hectic pace can be stressful and leads to lots of change, which isn't for everyone.

A dream job for the diligent & determined
4 Sept 2020 - Account Executive in Cedar Falls, IARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
From the moment I started at Access Systems, every single individual in the company has made me feel seen, heard, and supported. From leadership that checks in and cheers me on (without micro-managing), to outpourings of advice from the most tenured and successful account execs, I've had every opportunity to succeed here. Training was structured, immersive, and a great mix of on-the-job experience coupled with one-on-one sessions with Access' best & brightest. Management is active in meetings, aware of my goals, and understanding of my opportunities for growth. The fun and supportive culture is apparent in everything Access does: from company get-togethers, to consistently giving back to the community, to the way we genuinely have a good time--both in meetings, or in the sales bullpen. It might be cliche, but completely true: there is truly never a dull moment at Access. Further, the compensation structure is both generous and simple to understand, and the work/life balance couldn't be better.
Cons
B2B is tough business--this isn't for the shy, the cautious, or the faint of heart. My role has challenged me to become more eloquent, structured, disciplined, organized, creative, and competitive. Access has high standards, and this shows in everything they do, including (and especially) account executives: put in the consistent work, be willing to face rejection and harsh words from strangers, and ultimately become a better person for it. I can easily say this job isn't for everyone. I could see some becoming easily discouraged, or even overwhelmed. This career requires learning, listening, and humility: be willing to understand what works, and be willing to seek out advice when necessary. Consistency and strategy lead to successes, which snowball into additional opportunities. If you hate talking on the phone, public speaking, or chatting with anyone from strangers, to CEOs, to small-town independent business owners; I would ultimately recommend against applying for the role.
