I worked at Aegis Treatment Centers full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You are on the front line of the battle with opiate addiction/dependence. Great experience for beginning counselors as well as experienced. Ongoing training and education, supportive supervisors and co-workers.

    Cons

Can be emotionally challenging at times. Always a rush at the end of the month to complete billable tasks. Pay is low considering what you have to go through to become a counselor.

I worked at Aegis Treatment Centers part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Great experience working with the substance abuse population - If you like working early hours they are open from 5am - 5pm

    Cons

    - 90% of the staff working at this facility was burnt out and had no compassion or empathy toward the clients - Lack of supervision (if you expect employees to do paper work a certain way then train them) - Too much office politics - Unless you have prior experience working with addiction, this place is not for you

I have been working at Aegis Treatment Centers full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great accessibility to Corporate support, great experience with diverse population of patients. Ability to interface with community organizations. Good clinical supervision and overall support.

    Cons

Early hours can be hard to adjust to initially, but is actually helpful for other life demands and appointments (don't have to schedule a lot of time off).

I worked at Aegis Treatment Centers full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great place to get hours towards license. Great experience doing therapy.

    Cons

This company takes advantage of medi-cal. They keep the clients on methadone for 20-30 years. Upper management use scare tactics to keep productivity up. There is a huge turn over rate with employees in the clinics. The clinic that I worked at had a 90% turn over rate in a 1 year period. Employees are constantly in fear of being fired. Counselors are paid very little.
