I worked at Aegis Treatment Centers full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You are on the front line of the battle with opiate addiction/dependence. Great experience for beginning counselors as well as experienced. Ongoing training and education, supportive supervisors and co-workers.

    Cons

Can be emotionally challenging at times. Always a rush at the end of the month to complete billable tasks. Pay is low considering what you have to go through to become a counselor.

I have been working at Aegis Treatment Centers full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You gain a lot of experience with the population you serve. Advice: Gain the experience and get out!

    Cons

Has a freeze in raises for the year (2017) even though they have opened other clinics this year. Does not appreciate dedicated employees. Has a high turnover rate in all positions. The pay is low....less than $18 with a Masters degree. Successes are easily looked over depending on mood of organization. Management also has poor communication skills, and yet "portray" themselves as if they support you. Needless to say, morale is extremely low with management. Oh, and let me not speak of our health insurance. SMH. I will say, with the pay here, you qualify for medi-cal, and it's often better.

    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at Aegis Treatment Centers part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Opportunity to help people recover from addictions

    Cons

Poor management - treated patients like cattle, not people. Manager was a former police officer who was more interested in punishment than rehab. Some very shady practices. Manager falsified documents, hung staff out to dry and made us look like idiots in front of patients because of failures on her part. Not enough safety precautions - security guards were a joke Very low pay for the work we did
