I have been working at Alaska Airlines full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

nice rich benefits, free flights, profit share

    Cons

very little pay been here 5 years and per contract only making 16.01 an hour and I cant use the benefits when I barely make a living

    Advice to Management

If you want us to treat passengers nice treat your employees nice and if you don't then pay us to be nice. they buy cushioned chairs for conference room that they use once a year but employees take their lunch on hard chairs everyday that just as little as it shows how management cares for employees

    Pros

Nice coworkers. Flight benefits if you can get on a decent flight.

    Cons

Pay is low. Being kind hearted is one of the values but only for customers, not by managers to staff. They said Virgin America would renew Alaska's culture but that turned out to be lip service. It's pretty much old Alaska again.

    Advice to Management

There are a lot more good places to work that pay more than there were before. You're going to have a harder time hiring good people, lose your best ones, and be left with mediocre ones if you continue to treat your employees less than your customers.

I have been working at Alaska Airlines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Challenges and learning never stops.

    Cons

Politics, politics, politics. Management wants to get work done quick without providing proper resources. Employees are overworked with not so great pay. Management does not value hard work and sacrifices. Culture is toxic.

    Advice to Management

Valuing your employees’ work and sacrifices will fix this company.

I worked at Alaska Airlines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

friendly co-workers, wore a uniform so that saved alot of time picking out something to wear, flight privileges.

    Cons

Management are rude, very picky, you can not be late no matter what. They consider 1 min as late and your written-up. If you have 3 in a year your fired, new hires get night shifts, work on weekends and every holiday. Travelers could be extremely pushy and nasty. This was the worst job Ive ever had.

    Advice to Management

Try being polite and patient, they are always mad due to customers being upset and it all comes down to you. Try Smiling and look like they enjoy their job.

I worked at Alaska Airlines part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Free Flight Benefits. But they are restricted and not easy to get.
    Strong Union.

    Cons

Existing employees are cold & unwelcoming. Most employees at the counter have been doing the same thing for too long and are vocal about their criticism of the company. Depressing, especially for a new employee. Employees are protected by a union but they abuse the privilege & try to use it to fight management.

    Advice to Management

Take a lesson from the TV show, Undercover Boss & spend time actually observing the break rooms and observe customer interaction to get a real-world perspective.
