    Alghanim Industries Response

    December 5, 2015Talent Manager

We are aware there is a perception that in some way Lebanese Nationals are favored at Alghanim Industries. This is not the case. Alghanim Industries currently employee people from 89 different nationalities, we would not choose to single out a specific nationality but to respond to your comment: Lebanese Nationals currently represent just over 2.5% of the workforce at Alghanim Industries. We believe in the value of a diverse workforce, nationality is just one element of diversity that we monitor on an ongoing basis. We are sorry you would not recommend Alghanim Industries as a place to work but value your feedback. We wish you well in your future career

I worked at Alghanim Industries full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Avoid at all costs! Working here should only be a last resort. TOO MUCH POLITICS. TOO MUCH DRAMA AND TIME WASTE. Pros: Salary on time. Owners do try to invest in staff. Unfortunately, company too big with so much politics and too many management layers their efforts are in vein. Alghanim Industries is successful as a family business because the owners, due to their presence in the market for over 150 years, have become agents and distributors of countless successful brands that sell themselves and generate huge revenues such as Chevrolet vehicles, AC Delco, snickers, kitkat, Philips etc... While good for the family as a business-since they deal with good brands that naturally sell themselves-this has put employees in a position where they are a little more than a disposable commodity.

    Cons

In summary, Alghanim Industries has the worst work culture I have seen in my 11 years of work. So much politics and backstabbing. Productivity, ethics, intelligence and skill mean absolutely nothing to your colleagues. You will be perceived as a threat not an asset. So many management layers I swear I saw a team of 11 or 12 having 4 managers. If you join: First thing you are going to notice is the very high turnover rate in upper management. It’s so disappointing it literally made me sick. There are 2 or 3 senior managers ousted every week. Im not exaggerating. Second thing you will notice is the huge number of people who didn’t receive a penny in pay raise even after serving for decades. Thirdly you will notice too many smart people get fired for little or no reason. 15 new hires got fired in my first 60 days for reasons like found “unpleasant”. I’m not talking about cost cutting firings. 15 in a department of 50 is a huge number. Fourth thing you will notice too many management layers and it is nearly impossible to make your self heard at the top. So if you have a good idea or a complaint you are under the mercy of your boss plus their boss plus their boss plus their boss. So forget about communicating anything to the owners. I saw a team of 11 or 12 staff having 4 managers!! Fifth, too much favouritism especially for Lebanese. If you have inside wasta you can make it otherwise you will likely be stuck forever with your salary and never see a raise. Insiders will go out of their way to shoot and kill new hires of high skill and caliber. This pattern is seen throughout the organization and is unmistakable. Why new hires? Because they are soft targets and the easiest threat to eliminate.
