    Pros

The people that you work with is the ONLY reason to stay.

    Cons

Benefits are not what they used to be and not worth using anymore. They Don't look for the best in anybody anymore. They used to love to promote from within, but no longer. Instead of promoting someone for being good at what they with a desire to learn more, they would rather pay a young kid straight out of school to learn how to do something and accept their lack of knowledge and experience as reason to pay them less.

    Advice to Management

You once looked for the best, now you will take the mediocre because you can pay them less. What does that say about the company?

      Pros

American Century Investments is a great company continue ideas and charitable giving to the community started by our founder years ago. American Century is currently undergoing a technology transformation which will drive growth in the near and mid-term future. Its an exciting time to be involved in driving technology results for the company.

      Cons

Being a regulated industry, there are some challenges that aren't comfortable to those working in a traditional startup mentality. We don't change process and procedures as fast as we startups or less regulated areas can, but we work towards these goals when it makes sense.

I worked at American Century Investments full-time for more than a year

      Pros

There is plenty of room for growth, especially if you want to work directly with clients. Management is fantastic, always there to help and is very positive and provides good feedback for your work. You get off weekends, plenty of holidays, PTO, good starting pay with bonuses after a year, great training program, lots of fun company activities and team meetings that allow for improvement in your job, list goes on.

      Cons

You are on a phone all day, if you do not like being at a cubicle with a headset on then this job is not for you. There is a TON of information to learn, so much so that you have an entire online "encyclopedia" that is hard to learn how to navigate to find answers to clients questions along with a support team to assist you. Most clients are nice, patient and understanding but expect to encounter a decent amount of disrespectful,...

      Pros

Fitness center is pretty good. Decent people work there in spite of management apathy toward employees.

      Cons

This company is a shadow of its former self still trying to ride on the reputation of its past. Once a proud leader in the investment world it has totally lost sight of what made its reputation in the first place. Its employees. Called his "family" by company founder Jim Showers employees are now treated as interchangeable FTEs, ie "full time equilevants". Work loads are doubled or trippled or "promotions" with no pay...

      Advice to Management

A company like a fish rots from the head down. Management is either wilfully ignorant or just doesn't care how low they are regarded among the "rank and file"--the very people who actually keep this company going. Management is apparently also unaware of how the reputation of the company is crashing among the broader community. Keep your eyes on adding basis points to profits, and I'm afraid you will have a very rude...

I have been working at American Century Investments full-time

        Pros

In a world of fee compression and a fight with index funds for investor dollars, American Century is constantly looking for ways to compete and win. From a focus on ESG investing to the fairly recent ETF offerings, the company is adapting. From an on-site perspective, the New York City office is in a spectacular location, just a couple of blocks from Grand Central. The space is modern and bright, with an open office...

        Cons

There seems to be a "process" for everything at American Century, so decisions tend to take a little longer than they probably could. But that's corporate life, right?

        Advice to Management

Keep evolving and transforming. It's better to disrupt yourself than to have another company do it for you.

I have been working at American Century Investments

        Pros

It’s fine, nowhere is perfect especially if you’re working for the man. Great PTO if you’re able to actually unshackle yourself, as everyone is maxed out and yet being asked for more. Generous bonus potential if your manager buys into the idea of rewarding people for pouring their heart and soul into their work.

        Cons

Some of these reviews are so obviously written by HR, it’s pathetic and comes across as desperate. The company is facing both external and internal challenges. Externally, the industry is increasingly competitive and companies need to do things differently to grow, or die. Internally, leadership has zero accountability, so good ideas do not get executed, and then the lower-level employees take the blame for the company...

        Pros

The company is making strides toward more gender and racial diversity

        Cons

I think senior management knows the company is dying and they are trying to squeeze every penny out of it for themselves.
