"Rewarding experience for new grads"

Pros
Extremely intelligent and motivated colleagues, who are also friendly and nice. Everyone genuinely wants to help you learn and develop your skills. The Boston office has an annual ski trip to Stowe and an awesome holiday party at the MFA. I’ve heard from colleagues in other offices that they have similar events as well (San Francisco goes to Tahoe to ski). The Boston office space is beautiful, and every analyst gets their own office. The training here is also top notch, with analysts having mandatory training sessions in Excel, SAS, Stata, R, VBA, and lots of optional courses as well if you want to focus on a particular programming language. This could be a pro or a con, but compared to management consulting there is very little travel. Work life balance in consulting can be difficult, but not traveling makes it easier for me. As far as exit opportunities, most analysts leave to go to top grad schools, and AG helps prepare you with an extensive grad school workshop series.
Cons
Consulting can have long and unpredictable hours, and economic consulting adds the additional layer of non-negotiable court deadlines. I’ve definitely had some late nights working with my team. AG has an internal labor market, which is essentially how you find your cases. Some people love it because it allows them to network their way into the cases they want, but I would personally appreciate a little more structure and help finding cases.

Pros
People are brilliant, and care about your development, and growth and mentorship. I would genuinely want to be friends with most of my co-workers, outside of work.
Cons
Work life balance is impossible at any levels. Hours are unpredictable. If you happen to be staffed on a great case with great people, you're all set. But thats an element of luck, availability and relationships. I have witnessed many peoples' careers being ruined because they were staffed on a terrible case (read: poor management) or boring case with little intellectual challenge. Its a large company that is run like a family business. Entrenched relationships make it hard for newcomers. You are either "part of the family" or not. There is little standardization across offices for promotions and pay. Fantastic place for fresh college graduates but beyond that, it can completely depend on who you work with and the sort of work you end up doing.

RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI worked at Analysis Group full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
Given immediate legitimate and interesting responsibilities / tasks. The work varied a lot and every case felt like a new learning opportunity. Plenty of opportunity to advance to higher level responsibilities. Management was incredibly receptive to feedback and openly encouraged push-back on their ideas. Perfect job to work for a few years after undergrad, particularly if interested in graduate school afterwards.
Cons
This is just the nature of the industry but hours can be unpredictable and long. However, most of the management in the DC office is good about keeping work-life balance in check for the analysts.

I worked at Analysis Group full-time
Pros
- Good compensation - Smart colleagues - Challenging work
Cons
- Senior stakeholders do not want to provide feedback - Don't care about employees only finishing tasks quickly - Absolutely no work life balance - Little racial diversity and non-inclusive environment. questions are received with suspicion, held to a higher performance standard than peers, initiative is seen as over-stepping -The company is constantly hiring as employees work here for a while and prefer to leave. - Would only recommend to people who are willing to trade their 20's for cash
