"ABI GCC - Fostering a culture of Bureaucracy, Nepotism & Instability."

    I worked at Anheuser-Busch InBev full-time

    Pros

Free Beer, Cab Service, Subsidised Canteen.

    Cons

Ab-Inbev GCC (India) provides a unique set-up where a lot of culture values are preached and very little practiced. ABI GCC inducts high-performing talents from industry/premier institutes/b-schools with a promise of front-end business partner roles but provides them a back-end operational job where they are required to do all the heavy-lifting and yet make no decisions. Irrational targets are bestowed upon... employees without giving them any authority to drive change and in that process they either get burnt (expect atleast 12-14 hours work every day) or get fired (PIP is very common here). Where in some cases, smart employees are able to evolve a solution, still they have to go thru a lengthy, bureaucratic process to get blessed from far less qualified & incompetent zone/service managers who only look to bottle-neck the process to show management they add value in rubber-stamping proposals. There is No support from GCC Management in addressing the elephant in the room. Everyone is looking to save their own back! To add it there is a lot of nepotism in hiring/giving opportunities. If you voice your opinion different from your manager, you may either get suppressed or fired. Lastly, Don’t consider Variable Pay while negotiating CTC - even though you may achieve all of your yearly objectives - you may still end up foregoing 70-80% of your variable pay owing to rationalising factors. My simple advice: Don’t get lured by CTC. If you want to save your career - Do NOT join the company even if they offer you a very attractive CTC.

    Advice to Management

Substitute Bureaucracy with Meritocracy of you really want to transform & achieve your dream. Merely writing Culture Values on Office Walls don’t transpire them into practice.

I have been working at Anheuser-Busch InBev full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-thus place will challenge you like you have never seen before. For someone with over 14yrs if experience, this was a shock to me. But fantastic opportunities provided to grow -Love the culture. Simple, direct, no BS

    Cons

-IT infrastructure is a challenge -most jobs are night shift -Lack if understanding of local culture

    Advice to Management

Do what you are doing. However, would advice all expars to undergo a cultural assimilation program before they come here. India is a different country and you need to understand this. Language in meetings sometimes crosses limits.

I worked at Anheuser-Busch InBev full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    a. Excellent transportation facility b. Free beer (to those who drink) c. Good initial pay package

    Cons

    a. People are curt, rude & haughty (no matter at what echelon of career they are at, the know-it-all attitude is unbelievable) b. Lack of women leadership (in India) and the present mgt. to be honest- immature (will follow any new social trend without a seconds' thought); Avg. leadership age is 36; lacks 'wisdom')- Empathy is a value that is bald to those at AB-InBev mgt. c. The senior management... believes that work must be the center around which the life-cycle of an employee is compassed about. d. The company runs on half-truths- they claim to be the company with the top-most revenue in the world. Yet, the 'bonus payout' at most times faces lame excuses (it looks good only on your offer letter) + they have 400 plus people leaving them in year II + people are stressed to their noses, of course + not a certified under top 10 under the GPTW etc... e. Worst IT infra. in any company ever. f. No exit interviews, no farewell; One is welcomed however, with loads of work and a smirk g. Passion and culture of the company is forced upon, rather than, accepted by all h. Micro-management at its best (i. The yearly employee review process is a joke- it is war, the most shameless, yet, looks-to-be necessary stage of gossip, of every employee to everyone in that room, and finally, the public secret- they force fit the employees intothe bell curve)

I worked at Anheuser-Busch InBev full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Easy to switch roles and verticals within the company - Easy to get promotions and climb up the corporate ladder especially if you come from a management trainee program

    Cons

    - Upper and middle management lack experience though they have good presentation and oratory skills. Unfortunately good speeches don't help when planning and execution is terrible. - Management lacks wisdom to understand that processes are important. They boast about the ability to work in chaos when they should be fixing the chaos. - Lacks ethics (though they are critical about legal compliances) where vendors... don't get paid on time and sometimes not paid at all. - Though they constantly parrot the word DPC (Dream People Culture), the company lacks vision, has terrible inexperienced arrogant people and a culture of show-off without substance. - The processes are so poorly managed that everyone is constantly stressed out, and busy covering their behind while preparing for the blame game that ensues on whatsapp groups. Instead of figuring out what went wrong and fixing, they engage in unhealthy finger pointing games. - Work/Life balance is a joke in this company especially if you are in sales or trade marketing- Weekends is when you have events - so your holidays goes for a toss. Market visits go up till 2am. You are expected to be available 24 7 on calls and on whatsapp groups.

    Advice to Management

    1) Hire people with experience and qualifications for upper management roles. 2) There is an unhealthy culture of finger pointing in the name of accountability which is not productive. Pointing fingers is not going to change or enhance accountability, it will just shift the focus from work to covering their own back. Accountability can be instead bought through design of processes and systems than through... whatsapp group fights or email banters.

I have been working at Anheuser-Busch InBev full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Beautiful offices and good at presenting stuffs.

    Cons

Company’s processes/policies are impossible to understand and almost everybody is lost in finding out what has to be done.

    Advice to Management

Leadership should know what exactly is needed for the company’s growth. Otherwise it will be difficult to survive and get things done.
