Something is going badly wrong

Pros

Good cause. Albeit it one that has lost its way.

Cons

Influence and decision making is not devolved and is limited to senior management. Beyond that there is a very small group who continue to survive who have input beyond their status just because they're close to senior management. Over the past 2 years, entirely through mismanagement, the most talented members of fundraising have left. The org willfully refuses to improve and instead thinks that going backwards is the key. If you've repeatedly seen Animals Asia jobs advertised and you wondered why there are so many - it's not because they're expanding - it's because people are getting out.

Good approach, disastrous implementation

Pros

The organization follows a benevolent approach. Many team members are open-minded and nice. The cohesion among colleagues is okay. Due to the constant fickleness of the highest management level, this is a very diversified job with disaster management potential.

Cons

Unfortunately, this employer has a disastrous communication policy of intransparency, which I as a manager have to answer for to my employees. Regrettably, due to the inefficient orientation of the charity, the collected funds are wasted in many areas and do not reach the animals in full. We are faced with enormous savings, to the suffering of our animals. A positive factor for the management though is the fact that there is of course no saving on salaries. As a manager, you do not come off badly financially. However, I do wonder what we could achieve with the funds instead. Furthermore, there is no open ear for subtle suggestions for improvement when dealing with superiors. Employee voices are not heard, but rather suppressed. A policy that I am expected to implement towards my employees. This has nothing in common with modern appropriate management style. You should keep your own opinions to yourself, which makes collaborative work impossible. Everyone who thinks he wants to change something in this world for the better should distance himself from this charity. The organisation's orientation is backward-looking and focuses on financial success rather than on shared values and the very reason for its existence. Fortunately, however, there are several employees who still believe in the cause with heart and passion. To them, though, we pretend that the final decisions are an assumed evil, for the welfare of the animals. The real reason is hidden from most employees, those who recognize it try to ignore this. Basically we are in an atmosphere of constant control. Despite my many years of loyalty to Animals Asia, trust is a foreign word, and personal initiative is undesirable. There are opportunities for advancement as long as you are obedient and ingratiate yourself through targeted behaviour. You will not be promoted based on your own performance and success. Talents in my team remain hidden and are not even seen. Moreover, it is expected to be available on weekends as well, which I don't find bad in itself, if it would be justified. In this criticism I deliberately refer only to the work itself, I omit the evaluation of the individual successes and failures of the organisation for reasons of fairness. These should not be part of any factual criticism, as these successes depend on many parameters that are only indirectly in the hands of Animals Asia. I would also like to give up my anonymity, but I will not do this for fear of extensive sanctions for my team. In the past there have already been several waves of dismissals due to personal differences. There have also already been several smear campaigns within the organisation against individual employees with the aim of damaging their reputation in order to silence them.
