I worked at Aranca full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Good and friendly co-workers - Good exit options for IR and Valuations

    Cons

I worked in the IT/Telecom team of the Business Research division. Following are my observations about the team, the work and the work environment: 1. Misrepresentation of work during hiring interview: During the hiring interview, I was informed that the technology team of Business Research division looks after IT/telecom domain. Therefore, it was shocking to find out that this team doesn’t have any IT, Telecom or technology clients and the work done by the team is not even related to technology markets. Most of the work done by the team is basic KPO projects for non-technology companies and not consulting/ strategy projects. There is no IT/telecom expertise in the team. 2. Stressful team environment not conducive for productivity: The team management policy followed in the TMT team is of high-handedness and micro-management leading to low productivity and hostile work environment. The AVP practices and advocates this ideology to Managers and on many occasions she has mentioned "Keep your team members on a tight leash and under stress. Find fault in their work regardless of the output and make them re-work in order to control them”. This ideology is not only toxic but also creates lack of trust and leads to inefficiencies. With this understanding, the team members are never sure whether the performance feedback provided is authentic or just an attempt to keep them under pressure. 3. Biasness in the team: The team operates with certain pre-defined biasness based on which the performance ratings are determined. For example, the AVP mentioned that “there is no reason to give high performance ratings to those who are never going to quit the company.” This shows complete lack of meritocracy and maturity and that loyalty towards the company counts for nothing. 4. Unusual company policy: Company has a bizarre policy of hiring a replacement even though the employee has not resigned, thereby, creating unnecessary complications for all the parties involved.

I have been working at Aranca full-time

    Pros

Complexity in most projects presents you new challenges; salary credited on time; great office location; you can grow if you know how to gossip and laugh over PJs from lead

    Cons

Really bad work culture compared to previous work places; Pathetic team leads who lack knowledge of the domain they service; Favor dumb gossipers, who do not even do their math correct, over employees with expertise; Leads back bite you and make strategy on how to axe people capable of becoming their replacement just before appraisal. Whenever someone resigns, a fake story is planted in the department that the person was fired due to performance issues. This saves leads from embarrassment and disgraces the leaving person.
