I have been working at AspenTech full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Good benefits, decent salary.

    Cons

Very poor leadership and management. There is no trust, and the VP's treat you like your children. Socializing is not allowed! Micro-managers all the way as if they didn't have enough to do. Very top heavy with management and some of the mangers are so unprofessional it's pathetic. Very low morale in all areas of the company. A good company begins with leadership. People are always leaving because of poor management, and HR is useless. Promotions are only giving to the favorites.

I have been working at AspenTech full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good colleagues, good location, free parking. Good benefits package - which is very surprising. (Don't get sick or hurt though - company will penalize for that)

    Cons

No room for advancement, very poor morale, upper management never interacts with anyone lower than vp level. When things go wrong lots of finger pointing and no recognition for successes. Threats and fear are used to motivate.

I worked at AspenTech full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - AspenTech has some of the most outstanding products in the market. - People who work there are nice, very skilled and talented. - Many opportunities to learn, especially if you are starting your career. - Good benefits - Work/Life balance is pretty good, company is flexible.

    Cons

    - Company is becoming more and more product-oriented, reducing their Services department. Although software is good, it requires some deep knowledge to implement, which customers do not necessarily have - that's why you must have Services team! - Travel and expense report policies protect the company only, and employees pay the price for that. - Company is not focused on the people. Many employees left throughout the years and were not replaced. - Salaries are below the market standards, especially in the US. - Former employees are treated like traitors and are rarely accepted back. - Some products are being killed by starvation. - Growth opportunities and promotions happen very seldom.

I have been working at AspenTech full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Driven, friendly and talented coworkers.! Strong sense of community. Lots of initial training to get up to speed. Leading in industry. Dynamic job, doesn;t get boring. Many opportunities to be involved on projects of high impact that are both challenging and engaging right from the get-go. Good hours and Good benefits (vacation days, 401k, etc..)

    Cons

The management structure is a little too bureaucratic and micromanaged (particularly for approval of resources). Reduce this and you'll find the communication among peers more enhanced and you'll be amazed in a short time at the results these employees can deliver with the proper resources.

I have been working at AspenTech full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Great coworkers - Good benefits - Lots of training provided - Get to work with industry-leading products - Build experience working with colleagues from around the world

    Cons

    - Lots of "historical hurdles" that prevent efficient work (i.e. an hour-long history lesson needed before solving the problem at hand, due to the company's long history)

I have been working at AspenTech

    Pros

Great people to work with Good benefits Stable company

    Cons

This place has some of the highest turnover I have ever seen. Most employees wash out after 1 year and those who make it past 3 years are miserable and hate the place. Senior management could care less about the turnover and just keeps hiring replacements. The "if you don't like it here then leave philosophy is running rampant through senior management. Technology is old and boring and internal process and procedures are antiquated and outdated. For a 30 year old company I would expect more. This place flies by the seat of its pants and can't get out of its own way. Majority of the directors and VPs are not qualified to lead themselves much less a team. Company has a band aid attitude of patching up a problem but not providing a solution to fix it. There is a reason there are so many bad reviews on this place. All they care about is the bottom line. If you want to work for a disorganized mess than this is the place! I owe the ulcer I now have to this company!

"Focusing more on financials than on quality and people"

    I worked at AspenTech

    Pros

Aspen has some very good benefits, that have been left over from when they were first started. The salary is good and the benfits, especially the healthcare are good. Overall, the people that work there, especially in services, are nice and good to work with.

    Cons

Since Mark Fusco has taken over, there is definitely a very strong focus on financial performance. Granted, strong financials are strong for any company, especially a company like Aspen that almost went under, but it seems to be taking away from the quality of the products and services, as well as the focus on people. Aspen also seems to have an ivory tower mentality in terms of product development. The development organization is very inwardly focused and seems to look down on the customers and other parts of the comany. Lastly, the company does not seem to really focus or care about employeed development or training. They offer elearning, but anything beyond that is near impossible to do.
