Upper management disconnect with day-to-day New GM makes decisions off of emotion for the betterment or management team but not company as a whole Not much flexibility

    I worked at Atlas Copco

    Pros

Great pay and benefits; excellent 401k match; paid week off after Christmas with out having to use personal paid time off

    Cons

Management style from the 1970's - employees seen as property - response to problems is "work more and longer hours" - ethical concerns, they report false information to upper management. The expectation is that departments work against each other. Absolute chaos. Inventory accuracy 60% at best, no work instructions, no training department, inaccurate bills of materials, will not address the issues, then want to... know why products don't ship on time. Do not believe in process improvement, only "blame and shame".

    Cons

Sometimes the other co-workers are obnoxious. You can get hurt sometimes. The upper management people act like theyre superior to everyone sonetimes

I have been working at Atlas Copco full-time

    Pros

Good work culture, mostly great employees, friendly upper management, lots of opportunity for advancement (domestically, internationally, other business areas, etc), good compensation and benefits

    Cons

Too many cogs in the machine, multiple levels of approval lead to slow response times to customers (internal and external), it's often difficult to know who to contact when a problem arises for the first time, because of the large size constant redundant reporting is required in an attempt at transparency with upper management

    Advice to Management

Give your boots on the ground the support they need, be decisive - don't just pass the buck up the chain

I worked at Atlas Copco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits. Decent pay. Most of the people there are great to work with but the very few ruin it for the rest.

    Cons

Chaos. Pure and simple. Inventory is out of control, no strictly followed or developed business processes, project meeting are tailored to be a venue for throwing one another under the bus and an to come up with a story for justifying skewed and behind schedule timelines presented to upper management, everyone is in constant fire fighting mode, management doesn't know how to work together - each department is at... each other's throat, some managers are major micro managers where as others are totally hands off... Simply there is no direction, no vision. It is understood that in order to make money product must go out the door. But doing the same incorrect, non-value added routine day in and day out is good for no one.

    Advice to Management

Get your act together. There is a great wealth of talent and available to you to make the business successful if you would just take the time to do things correctly rather than pushing a myriad of sub-par products out the door. Atlas Copco has a strong name and history but doing what you are doing is nothing but tarnishing a good name.

    I worked at Atlas Copco

    Pros

Meeting new people and learning about different parts

    Cons

Too much favoritism and not fair straight across the board. The upper management looks down on the employees as if they're beneath them. Not all of them sum of them.

    Advice to Management

Treat your people with respect and stop all the favoritism and be completely honest with your employees.
