I have been working at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Possible to maintain a good work-life balance. Decent salaries. A lot of very good customer facing colleagues. Meaningful work. Potential. New MD shows promise.

    Cons

Very hard to see how this business can ever thrive under the BAE Systems culture which is an entirely wrong fit. More of a focus on numbers than people. In the difficult middle - too old and too big to be a cool tech start up, too small to make a real dent against the services and tech giants. General muddle - inability to sort anything properly out, like internal IT. Slow or no career development - the culture has...

    Advice to Management

You've got to improve the support and internal service provision to customer facing personnel: Sort out the IT and get the internal functions to understand their job is to help win and deliver not to put barriers in the way. You've hired a lot of good people on the customer-facing side - let them have a real say and stake in the company's evolution - they have ideas and energy. Real leadership development is needed...

    Pros

    - Compared to Accenture, Cap and PA, you are treated like humans and not resources - You are trusted and respected - A Board that genuinely cares and listens - this is a first! - Rapid growth means exciting opportunities - work life balance is far better here than at our competitors - lots of praise, thank you awards, public recognition - very supported - good career development practices - great process for...

    Cons

    - growing so fast means it is hard to find places for people to sit which can be frustrating - some of the HR processes are archaic, frustrating and very slow - slightly lower bonuses BUT people are far happier with their work life balance and far happier overall

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen - the changes that are taking place as a result of feedback and surveys are going down well!

I have been working at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

-Intelligent people, although the calibre generally reduces the newer the staff member -Work life balance is generally okay -You can get on interesting projects as long as you end up in the right part of the company and know the right people

    Cons

-Too much politics around roles and promotions -Lack of proper direction from senior management -Business rules are applied inconsistently (e.g. between promotion candidates, expectations of what a job role should do vs what is stated) -Lots of red tape that is difficult to wade through, even for small tasks -Attrition is high, with a lot of the good people leaving -The direction of the company has changed from a...
