I have been working at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good pay, free coffee, free chocolate

    Cons

Poorly maintained offices, dirty environment, low morale, no work, no promotions, no ownership, sinking ship

    Advice to Management

Build in the value of ownership, make individuals accountable. Create clear processes and then make people own those processes. Start a sales led consultanting approach as your account managers are failing.

I have been working at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Training provided to recent graduates that come through the training academy - Pay progression - Great "name" on your CV - CEO Julian Cracknell - James Willingham will make an extra effort to ensure your on boarding process is smooth.

    Cons

    - LACK of training provided to recent graduates that do not enter from an engineering background and are not trained in the academy. - Unprofessional environment. If you fit in, you do. If you don't fit into their idea of "character", they will make no effort to pretend to be professional. - Claims to be a flat hierarchy but you're not included in any decisions about your future in the company. Advice to Management

Learn how to engage with your staff. LEARN PEOPLE SKILLS - If you place people in Head of delivery roles, make sure they know how to speak to people with respect. Do not hire people to raise statistics. Do not fire people under false pretences. If you're going to hinder peoples chances to progress in their career in the company, be clear about that. Do not hire them and pretend to do the opposite.

I worked at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great Colleagues. In particular some of the more senior staff are fantastic to learn from Good Location (For the London Office) Lots of faith put in graduates and strong individuals can gain significant responsibility and make promotion cases quickly A wide range of projects/products are available at the company (if you are driven enough to battle for rotation) Lots of government work and great opportunities for DV...

    Cons

Can be very difficult to rotate into a desired job role. Quality of some graduates has declined as grad recruitment has increased. No 'scheme' to the graduate intake. This often results to new joiners spending large amounts of time on the 'bench'. This is being actively worked on. For a tech company - some of the IT hardware is a little dated BAE Systems branding

I have been working at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence full-time for less than a year

    Pros

As a pinch of salt, I'm on an internal project which sounds to be better, so with that in mind : - Great attitude towards working hours and how you structure them. So long as you're getting the work done and working on new skills, you're can reasonably flex your time. Be available for your meetings, but if you want to work late throughout the week and leave a bit early on Friday, Bae trusts you enough not to clock watch....

    Cons

Blue Fin offices for both space and Internet are - for all the beauty of the building - pants. You're better off working from home at least some of the week purely because you know your house will have space and better Internet. IT infrastructure and hardware needs an update. 8GB laptops for certain projects isn't enough. Windows 7 is antiquated for what most of us need to. Requesting new software can be a confusing...
