    Pros

Management team appears to be invested in employees

    Cons

Work life balance is really slipping. Currently understaffed at the Senior level causing a lot of work to be placed on each Senior Associates plate

I have been working at BDO USA full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

They try to build camaraderie between coworkers and I've met many wonderful people Definitely able to advance within the office Many industries available to be worked on, depending on the office you're in

    Cons

Busy season hours can be a real drag Pay could be better High turnover is real and will have an effect on your workload High, reliable performers often end up having to work more than others and there doesn't seem to be a ton of recourse for slacking off

    Advice to Management

Work better at retaining who you have. It's easier to keep what you have than keep having to retrain and restart with a bunch of newbies and castoffs from other firms. Increase pay a little. Don't boast to everybody about record bumps in revenue and then give people only a 4-6% bump when they get promoted. That's why everybody leaves for the greener grass of industry. It's actually greener and with less hours!

I have been working at BDO USA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pros - good office culture - partner and manager mentors - flexibility - opportunities to work on more complex areas early on in career

    Cons

Cons - compensation - office politics

    Advice to Management

More in office trainings over complex areas to give more support to seniors. Promote more within the office, instead of bringing in new people for the positions.

I have been working at BDO USA full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The Company is full of nice professionals who are willing to teach. Through national training and CPE offerings the firm makes sure you're well trained The firm offers over a week off for Christmas and New Years, which is a nice break right before busy season kicks off

    Cons

The Company has experienced high turnover, which leaves jobs understaffed and the burdon of the extra work falls directly on Seniors as managers generally feel that level of work is below them and are unwilling to help out as engagements lag due to most jobs being understaffed. The compensation to the amount of hours staff are asked to work is very unattractive, with no option to make over time I feel like my... salary averages hour to an hourly rate of a McDonald employee.

    Advice to Management

Compensation, compensation, compensation. You need to find a way to retain employees, especially seniors. As a senior, I receive 10+ LinkedIn messages and direct emails a day from Recruiters offering me $100k+ as well as much much better hours to move into private. Compensation & Benefits need to be more competitive, or the attrition will never stop.
