      Cons

Horrible culture- many germans in managerial roles who don't understand US market or US culture. Unfriendly and don't recognize hard workers or good talent. that's why all smart people run a couple years into job.

      Pros

You get to work with amazing vehicles, hands on. BMW-NA genuinely wants their employees and contractors to drive and love their cars and offer incentives to purchase / lease. The work is challenging and fulfilling when you are not overloaded (which happens frequently) and you can branch out and develop your skills in new fields (See caveat) with the assistance of the company. You can develop great professional relationships with Dealers, Vendors and other national markets within the brand.

      Cons

Like beating a dead horse - Contractors (Contingent workers as BMW NA refers to us) are treated like a subclass of employees. We are not presented with the same advancement opportunities as internal employees and it is from my experience, quite difficult to advance into a headcount role (Job-Cards). Transferring between departments is also quite difficult, the person who handles hiring of contract workers is often non responsive and they constantly handwring over moving contingents from one agency to another. When a new position opens up or the incumbent is promoted, the job is only offered to Internal employees with no effort to pull talent from their enthusiastic contractor pool. Only if no internal candidates show interest in the role will contractors get a sniff, and we have to use the same external career website the rest of America's job seekers do. Best know who the hiring manager is because that is often the only chance you'll have of getting your resume on the pile. Also, echoing what other reviewers have said, BMW NA appears to have more interest in bringing in former employees of Benz or the VW Group than moving talent up from their contract worker pool. They are also big fans of the 80/20 rule. 80% Contractor, 20% internal, likewise for the workload. If you are looking to land an internal position, better be prepared for a long 2-5 year grind as a contingent before you are deemed worthy.

      Pros

Great company with the world's best automotive products. A dynamic company with clear cut vision and goals. Hires compentent people at all levels with tremendous focus and work ethic. Everyone seems to have pride in the brand, the cars and getting the job done.

      Cons

No cons, but you need to be prepared to work hard. You must understand the mission and what your role is in accomplishing that objective.
