I have been working at BSI Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good Leave Package. Good Client Managers

    Cons

I’ve been with BSi for just over ten years and honestly at first I would have recommended this job to anyone, the variety of clients, people you meet and industry sectors was and still is amazing. The clients and people we meet has not changed however, the workload now is unmanageable and really impacts on family life / work life balance and actually is getting worse not better. Most client managers are tired and morale is very low especially within our team. Over the Covid 19 pandemic the messages which come from the CEO are really encouraging then you speak to your line manager you are told a different story which is not as encouraging and “you need to deliver more”. The PDR process is really demoralising in as much as you are made to feel your not doing enough to “meet” your requirements although you’ve worked yourself stupid over the year. Sometimes you don’t deliver the days but this can be down to a client cancelling or the office messing the diary up. The office is another thorn in a Client Managers side, I’ll be honest this needs a good shake up as it’s not really very efficient and definitely not helpful. The organisation actually makes you feel like a robot with no feelings rather than an actual human being. The amount of KPI’s you need to deliver on makes you feel under immense pressure. One negative comment from a client and BSi won’t back you but make you feel like you’ve failed. Truthfully I really love the job but will need to leave as I think it may cost my marriage or my health (or both). I spend nights finishing reports, planning and answer clients because there’s not enough time in the day and admin time has been slashed. The workload and role has become too much and I feel broken To stay I would want to see more support for CM role, less monitoring of people and more time to plan with full days of admin instead of half days. It should be one of the best jobs ever but actually is a real nightmare.

    BSI Group Response

    August 11, 2020Head of Operations

Our employees are an invaluable part of the organisation and you should absolutely not be feeling this way. Firstly, we want to reassure you that here at BSI, we do take Employee Wellbeing seriously – it’s a key focus for us as an organisation, and we recognise that there are always areas where we can improve. Our culture is very open, and you should always be able to speak with your line manager, or to their manager or any member of the leadership team – but if you don’t feel comfortable doing so, you can also speak with your HR team. We'd encourage you to discuss your concerns through any of these routes. We appreciate that remote assessments are a very different way of working, and changes to different ways of working can be difficult. By moving to remote assessments, we’ve been able to continue working to support our clients throughout lockdown, without needing to place any employees on furlough. We’re all looking forward to getting back to face to face assessments with clients as soon as it’s safe for both our employees and our clients. We’re all working in unchartered territory and working to support our clients – but we welcome feedback to ensure that this works as well as possible. Please talk to us. Vanessa Jones and Graeme Bruce - Heads of Operational Delivery

I have been working at BSI Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Clients are great. Client Managers are generally really good.

    Cons

Over recent years work life balance has gone down hill. Company and Management more focused on targets than wellbeing of Client Managers. Office generally unhelpful and in a world of their own. Some Operations Managers very unhelpful.

I have been working at BSI Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Good amount of holidays.

    Cons

    (1) The work life balance is very poor. Daily long drives, complete assessment and extensive reports. Could not be completed within time given so have to work evenings and weekends. (2) No time to actually work with clients and help support them (3) Objectives and KPis are terrible, adding to extra stress and unachievable leading to poor PDRs staff dread (4) MK customer planning and engagement not helpful (5) Operations Managers just target driven with wellbeing of client managers not considered. (6) Profit before wellbeing seen daily (7) Asked to rate managers but no clear improvements seen on feedback

I worked at BSI Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

They have a good holiday package

    Cons

Work life balance, expected to travel at least 2.5 hours to a client, undertake a full day assessment and then travel 2.5 hours home - 5 days a week. They promise it gets better, but it doesnt. When approached about it, "management" just give you a blank look and then tell you it will get better !!!!!!!!

    Pros

consistent training and good colleagues, various clients to work with from sole traders to blue chip companies

    Cons

no work life balance. we work at weekends and evenings to stay on top of workload to meet targets different ethos for internal office staff and auditors outside of main offices if you are favoured, you will do well, but if not, you are not recognised for your efforts with no opportunity to progress admin time varies between teams so some teams have 3 or 4 days pm and others 1 day pm glass ceiling and bullying of some colleagues who then leave. no exit interviews
