I worked at BSI Group full-time

    Pros

Great Co-workers and friendships that came out of that crappy place.

    Cons

POOR MANAGEMENT! there is no logic to half of the things they implement, no training, FAVORITISM runs high there, completely overworked- they are always increasing your sales goals to unattainable measures. You will commute all over far, Have to work long hours after you get home.. its never ending. ungrateful company, CANNOT keep employees- revolving door, no transparency, Shady HR, ABSOLUTELY ZERO CARE FOR FAMILY...

    Advice to Management

GET NEW MANAGEMENT! Find Managers that are not billable so they are more accessible to their consultants and maybe you can keep a few. Stop LYING to new hires, making it seem like BSI is this happy, great place with lots of opportunity.. LIES! It is so political is a joke! Mostly, stop with the nonsense "cultural fit" that BSI "strives for".. its BS to the max! there is zero cultural fit, zero support and zero ethics...

I have been working at BSI Group full-time

      Pros

The people are the primary reason I stay combined with a belief in the service we provide. Ok when it comes to contract flexibility.

      Cons

There is no work/life balance. 60 hr plus working week is not only the norm but expected (tho never said out loud by senior management). Financial pressures of the executive team should never be the problem of the people in the trenches as they are handsomely rewarded off the back of our labour. We should be able to focus on the safety and efficacy of products, providing a quality...

I have been working at BSI Group full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Work life balance is good, decent pension and benefits. I also have a very good manager, half the battle won I suppose.

      Cons

Going through various changes, most unnecessary and a lot of new processes not working, the blind leading the blind comes to mind. Unrewarding and below average wage (unless you’re upper management of course - nice 100% bonus for the CEO which is NOT filtered through past upper management)

      Advice to Management

Taking the biscuit holding breakfast briefings every month outlining how well the company are doing (over £60 million in the bank last time we heard). You thought BSI would reward the employees they constantly praise with a bonus but NO, they decide to re-invest the money to grow the business. And you know why they do this? - because when the business grows the big dogs can justify giving themselves huge bonuses. I don’t...

I have been working at BSI Group full-time

      Pros

Many advancement opportunities; they are a rapidly expanding company that is trying to grow their US presence. Managers typically listen

      Cons

Work life balance can be a challenge. The desire to sell, sell, sell can outweigh actually conducting the work

      Advice to Management

Work life balance should be more prevalent.

      Pros

Close to public transport Clean office environment Some great people to work with Free coffee

      Cons

Staff feedback is often ignored, even when raised with the MD HR is incompetent, unapproachable and don't want to hear your concerns Paranoid corporate atmosphere due to high staff turnover Company has zero direction, with static growth Incompetent "Leadership" Team - brown nosers Lack of support and skills development Limited growth potential Average work/life balance

      Advice to Management

Respect and listen to your staffListen to your staff, pump life back into the business, stop shifting blame and bleeding your customers dry.

      Disapproves of CEO

I worked at BSI Group full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Really nice peaceful location on the edge of Loughborough university campus, benefits are ok, flexi time allows a good work/life balance.

      Cons

Loughborough has major problems which are only going to get worse due to poor management. A lack of suitable testing equipment makes testing difficult and coupled with the tight schedules you are given for jobs this can lead to 'breaking' jobs, and being blamed for this even where there are issues outside of your control. A culture of bullying by lower management has been allowed to develop with many engineers forced...

      Advice to Management

Sort out the bullying and petty, vindictive behaviour of lower management, and try to make your engineers feel valued instead of treating them with contempt.

      Pros

The management support and empower people to take new challenges. They also give a full range of new possibilities and changing roles. Easy work/life balance.

      Cons

There is a big gap between departments. Some of them are brilliant, some of them need to improve.

      Advice to Management

Try to reduce gap among departments. Sometimes there is a lack of communication, which is misleading.

I have been working at BSI Group full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

Tend to find that you team and colleagues are supportive and visiting clients on a daily basis keeps you away from the office politics

      Cons

No Work Life Balance for Client Managers The 'profit at all cost' mantra is so unethical and damaging to the company's reputation. PDR process is the biggest joke going; 99% of the time it is only conducted so that management feel good about themselves; largely demotivates staff as there is nothing in it for them.
