BCN - Once a good place to work

- Mostly high functioning individuals - Fast pace of learning - Perks and benefits such as free lunches, overtime meals, late night cabs, broadband and mobile reimbursements
Cons
- Top management is unsupportive and disconnected from reality of the low-mid level employees - Work culture, which is top-driven, has significantly degraded over past few years as most of the good managers and leads have left - Strong emphasis here on the working style being extremely micromanaged - everything from emails to messages shared with the front-end consulting teams require approval and validation from the upper levels on a constant basis - New lateral hires across levels have significantly affected the quality of workforce and ways of working in a detrimental manner (the company has exceeded their hiring targets over the past two years by 150%!) - Teams are constantly overstaffed with the burden of managing a bigger team, yet equally contributing actively to its delivery, is falling on the team leads resulting in work hours regularly stretching to unsustainable levels

Good community - Work life balance is bad and work quality is average

Great community of people Several initiatives to improve work-life balance within the realms of consulting Non-toxic environment were people really want you to grow
Cons
Mundane work - especially the inordinate focus on formatting (TBH this is true for the entire industry) Too much socializing leading to almost no personal time on weekdays (if I include team meals I was working 9am - mid night every day)

Great place to start your career but not sustainable due to bad work life balance in the long run

Great work - Intellectually stimulating, impactful problem statements to work on Good pay - Fairly high pay that scales quickly with time Amazing people - Fun, smart people to work with, many of whom really care about your professional development Caring HR - I had several personal setbacks during my time at Bain and the HR was extremely understanding about the time off I had to take - the provisions for unlimited sick leave and 10 day caregiver leave every year helps a lot
Cons
Rough work life balance - Workday extends anywhere between 12-16 hours but weekends are clean Work can get repetitive after a while - especially if you remain in the same practice area over time

Pros
Good benefits such as health insurance, performance bonus. Also good initiatives such as quarterly project feedback system. Name tag or Bain - That is the only Pro
Cons
Work culture is really toxic, joining straight out of college and coming to such a toxic environment has been a really bad decision. Although the type of projects taken and learning is very vast and great, the environment we work in is too hierarchal, political and selfish. The managers and leadership has no consideration for the employees and always focus on delivering projects. The days stretch till 12 in the night for most days of the week.

Laying people off quietly, opaque and toxic culture
24 May 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Salary and benefits are decent
Cons
They don't have enough work to give to everyone and they have resorted to firing people due to "poor performance". People have been on the bench for 6+ months because they don't have enough cases. Very opaque mechanism of rating and feedback. Senior leadership often rude to employees.

Biased management style
17 Apr 2023 - Project Manager in Gurgaon, HaryanaRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Above salary perks are good
Cons
A lot of discrimination is done in the name of management. They mostly promote the employees who they hire directly from college (they call them “home frowns”) and do not give any flexibility to the lateral hires. They are very rigid in the ways of working and still follow primitive ideas when the company used to be small close-knit group. They are not able to accept the changes that should be implemented when the company grows 3-4 times. The review system is not very transparent and even if the stakeholders provide great feedback, the ratings are fudged by the management to only promote the employees who spend outside office time with them, even if the employee is performing at a very low standard.

Mediocre Organization

Your fellow colleagues are good individuals in general
Cons
They come to hire at some of the top 10 IIMs but I suggest people not opt for this company. It is worth it for under graduates but not for MBA postgraduates. The learning and development and salary opportunities are very poor. You'll be doing yourself a favor by not joining trust me, in the long run. Plus, the company culture has degraded a lot in recent years. Imagine getting an MBA from a top college only to end equivalent to DU graduates or people with tier-2 and tier-3 b-schools, Nightmare right?
