    Advice to Management

You are trying to sort out the people management side of things but it feels like the cracks are being covered with so much paperwork. Must learn how to manage people effectively and not just throw bodies and money at problems.

I have been working at Bet365 full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good environment and the not so much work (this can be considered as a cons :)

    Cons

Not a lot to see or to propose. If the code is bad and it is working - no changes are needed. Mainly they tell you what must be done, so no creativity needed by your side as a developer. To be good developer you must know the product, the technical skills are secondary.

    I worked at Bet365 full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Tough to say really. There is a cheap canteen and a free gym membership but the cons massively outweigh any pros. They pay well but it’s not worth your sanity.

    Cons

    - 9-5:30 with a 30 minute lunch. No flexible time
    - You dont get a parking space unless you’re there before 8:30am but can’t leave until 5:30 (you won’t get off the car park until 6pm at least)
    - If you get there and there are no spaces you have to park half way across Stoke and walk 20 mins to work, yet there are hundreds of company car spaces you can’t park in
    - Every element of your work is micromanaged, you are just a pair of hands, don’t even dare offer a suggestion to improve is the vibe in the office...
    - Projects you work on don’t go live for years (if at all)
    - Owners kids running around the office and screaming yet your not allowed to talk in the office have to take it outside or to the tea room
    - you have to scan your pass on every door and the track when you are not at your desk and force you to work the time back (smoke breaks, coffee breaks etc)

Overall, don’t sell your soul for any amount of money.

    Advice to Management

Stop thinking you are the best thing since sliced bread and be open to utilising the skills and abilities of your staff members, don’t smother them.

I have been working at Bet365 full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great opportunities to move around the company, having myself worked from the bottom up (Currently in my 5th Position)

Good facilities in regards to the canteen and Free Tea & Coffee (Including them being brought to your desk by the Tea Ladies).

    - Annual Bonus
    - Gift Vouchers at Xmas
    - Paid for Christmas Parties
    - Gym Membership
    - Vouchers when your Married or Have a Child
    - Long Service Award Certificates in recognition for 5, 10 and 20 years service including Gift Vouchers for reaching these.
    - Subsidized canteen
    - Cycle to Work Scheme
    - Company Car Scheme
    - Mobile Phone Package Discounts (Vodafone)
    - Free Parking (Although limited)

Plus other benefits which were recently introduced.

    - Good working relationships with other teams
    - Approachable staff
    - Management which will always listen to your problems, an open door policy even if they cant always resolve you will be listened to.

The company has gone Strength to Strength over the years and is always improving its working conditions for staff, couldn't imagine working at any other place at this moment in time.

    Cons

    - You need to be here for 8am to get a Parking Space if you start at 9am (Although the company doesn't have to provide parking)
    - Inadequate amount of toilets for the number of staff in Stoke office.
    - Feels like the teams have enough staff to make the teams the best they can be.
    - Bonus figures are provided in 1-2-1 meetings without being prior discussed with staff.
    - Lack of PDP for Staff
    - Lack of Training & Courses

    Advice to Management

    - Keep your staff well informed at all times dont stay in the secret squirrel society
    - Take an Interest in what the teams are actually doing or currently working on
    - When concerns are brought to the table take them on board, dont say "I will get back to you" and then never do.
    - Do not set unrealistic targets for your teams without properly discussing potential problems with the actual team undertaking the work.
