I worked at BioFire Diagnostics full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits, every other Friday off, friendly co-workers, and plenty of resources to learn new skills. BioFire is also great at trying to make all of their workers feel appreciated and that the work we do has an actual impact.

    Cons

Your experience will depend highly on your manager. Unfortunately, some managers will make it difficult to advance your career or even talk about career growth. It seems like there is a good number of people in management who seem to have gotten their role by being friends with others in upper management, not because of their qualifications. Also, people in several departments tend to cross the line or take inappropriate actions and there never seems to be any repercussions from HR. It has made several people feel alienated in their teams.

I worked at BioFire Diagnostics full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Every other Friday off, certain groups are wonderful to work for, and great 401k. If you get into a good group, it is a wonderful place to be. The challenge is knowing which groups those are before starting.

    Cons

Mid to upper management is littered with nepotism and favoritism. They promote themselves over the wellbeing of their teams, company, and product. Some management groups work to cover up mistakes and/or blame other people and departments for their failures, lack of insight, and outright laziness. I found this to be unacceptable for an FDA-regulated medical device company and entirely unethical.

    Current Employee - Pouch Manufacturing

I have been working at BioFire Diagnostics full-time

    Pros

160 hours of PTO, paid holidays, potential for free health insurance

    Cons

If you work in manufacturing, you are nothing. Theoretically the rest of the company is pretty nice, but manufacturing employees (including the ones that are required to have degrees) are seen as peasants. At the beginning of 2021, we were changed from whatever shifts we were hired for, typically M-F 8 hour shifts, to working 3 or 4 12 hour shifts a week, with either Saturday or Sunday required. Although there are (small) differentials for the weekend days and for the night shifts, the base pay was not increased. Since this change, BioFire has also been extremely restrictive about allowing eligible manufacturing employees to transfer to other departments where they won’t have to work weekends and 12 hour shifts. A lot of the manufacturing employees have already quit, and more are in the process of finding other opportunities.
