I worked at BioFire Diagnostics full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The product is a very forward thinking. Benefits and PTO.

    Cons

Manufacturing is run by a dictator. She does not care that people actually have lives, you are a number that gets her the quota for the day. Poor planning forces mandatory overtime. Tell you that you can transfer but never actually let you get out. HR has no backbone and they are there to pretend to be Kardashian's not to actually help employees. Also don't upset any of the dictatorship or her management or you will... be blacklisted within the company.

    Advice to Management

Care about your people, they aren't robots. Management causes a hostile work environment. Good job stealing the talent out of the valley but good luck keeping anyone in manufacturing. Other companies caught on and are upping their games. Try to go back to your roots where you cared about people as much as money.

I worked at BioFire Diagnostics full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Benefits are amazing, and you are eligible for benefits the day you start. Also, 160 hours of PTO banked to you at the beginning of the year. $5 subsidy to use everyday at the 515 cafe and flexible scheduling.

    Cons

You only get hired from within if you're "in" with management, doesn't matter if you're well qualified for the position. Definitely more nepotism here than they'd like you to believe. Or, HR is just oblivious to it.

    Advice to Management

Check in with your managers and supervisors often. Make sure they care about their employees or at the very least actually acknowledge their existence.

I have been working at BioFire Diagnostics full-time for more than a year

    Pros

BioFire is a young, strong company that is figuring out how to deal with massive growth. They treat their employees well and offer amazing benefits, as well as strong compensation packages. I genuinely like working here and feel that most of my counterparts do as well.

    Cons

With BioFire being located in research park, the commute to work is horrible! Having to deal with an annoying amount of traffic leaves you feeling in a bad mood even before you've arrived at your desk. A good solution would be to offer an alternative form of transit to BioFire so that we can alleviate some of the traffic coming up. Also, some managers are far to overbearing/involved in their team's work. They... monitor hours to make sure that you're at your desk, even if your work is already done. They don't allow us the option to work from home - ever.

    Advice to Management

    1. Work with mid-level managers and ask them allow their teams some breathing room and flexibility. 2. Offer solutions to the commuting problem through alternative transit option (TRAX, Bus, Bike, Telecommute) so that employees have options. 3. Adopt a culture of feedback where employees can give open/honest feedback to their superiors without fear of repercussion/retaliation.
