Hostile Work Environment and Worst Manager in Entire Career and IT can't keep PC working

      Pros

Great salary but bonus is less that the Blue Plan I worked at. BCBSA embraces WFH/remote even before COVID unlike most Blues Plans. If the posting doesn't specify WFH/remote, ask the recruiter if you get to that point. After 25 years, there is a new CEO. Hopefully this will bring breathe of fresh air and new blood.

      Cons

Manager has control issues. Always needs to be in charge, hijacking conversations in meetings and a Macro Manager to the point that it is a disease, just like any other mental health issue. Manager is two-faced and can't win or setup to fail. If you take initiative, you have overstepped, not take initiative, you aren't meeting expectations. Co-worker in our department acts like Emperor Trump. I let that person and our manager know I improve their code. Instead of kudos, my co-worker lashes out at me like they are Trump because The Emperor was told he didn't have any clothes on. Both are self serving and self centered. IT can't keep my PC working from day to day. It always something. I've filled out more Helpdesk times at BCBSA then all my the other companies I've worked at combined. It took them over a month to install some Microsoft software. I was able to install the same on personal PC in an afternoon watching a training video. It took IT over a month to get me a new PC which I will have to return because Microsoft file is running as slow as software in the 1980's. Myth Buster. Just because you work at a health insurance company, doesn't necessarily mean great healthcare insurance coverage. My spouse has better BCBS health insurance. A Director shared with me that their daughter's also had better BCBS health insurance.
