Nothing as of now. More focus on boeing principles than actual work.

      Brief Overview

      Pros

Great benefits, pays amazingly well and easy (quick) to get into a management position if you play your cards right.

      Cons

Expect to sometimes work odd hours to get on a meeting call with international suppliers. Also, expect to not have consistent 8hr days since you will most likely be approving drawings that are on a tight schedule. (rated 5 stars because the pay definitely makes up for it) Other than that, Boeing is very structured and systematic, not really a con but it fits a specific cup of tea.

Good company that pays well and allows you to grow

      Pros

Lots of learning resources and senior level engineers to help guide you. Benefits are great and everyone seems to share the same passion for airplanes. Compensation was decent as well.

      Cons

Managers were not as transparent with layoffs. Lots of beating around the bush and giving a false sense of security. The company is also very large and change is hard to come by. There is a “if it works don’t fix it” mentality.

      Boeing Project Manager

      Pros

Great benefits. Great work-life balance. Easy commute for the most part. Lots of training opportunities and tuition reimbursement for Masters Program.

      Cons

Project Manager pay rates at Boeing are significantly less than similar roles in the greater Seattle area. Promotions/pay raises are difficult to get even if you are a top performer. Especially if you aren't interested in a management career path. There are a lot of "acting" managers who get the experience, but not the pay.

      Great place to intern

      Pros

They did a good job at honoring comitments to interns and finding return offers in other parts of the company. Great team and felt valued. Great benefits for interns as well

      Cons

Company finances on the commercial side are in shambles. BCA has a lot of work to do to get back on track.

Not what it once was and getting worse

      Pros

-Benefits are Great and are the main reason Boeing gets away with how they treat employees -Cool Products if you're enough to work on them -Exciting work, if you are in the right place

      Cons

-You are a number, most importantly, a cost -Projects can lose funding in a snap if someone up top doesn't see the benefit -Constant fear of being laid off (see above...) -Certain organizations, if not most, involve work on legacy systems and technologies that should have been retired decades ago but no one wants to devote budget to technical debt. -The only way to get promoted or a raise (even more so in 2020) is to switch teams or leave the company and come back. Bonus points if you want to be executive as they only come externally. -The company doesn't do much to retain and hire the best talent so many of the good resources are on the way out if they aren't stuck with Boeing LTP or RSU golden handcuffs -Upper management is in a constant state of leaving the company or moving to a different role leaving a Boeing employee with a solid understanding of management's strategy extremely rare.

      Good Company / Terrible Management

Sep 9, 2020 - Design & Analysis Engineer in Everett, WA

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Flexible schedule, lots of sick leave, educational benefits are great. You can learn about anything. Most people are willing to teach about their work. There's tons of opportunity. If you're good at networking you can find interesting assignments.

      Cons

Management faces no consequence for bad decision making. I've seen projects years late and overbudget and the managers just get moved to new projects. Engineering has to deal with all the problems as result of their terrible planning. Good ol' boys club as you get higher in the management structure. Technical fellows are mostly old men with egos who typically add limited value. All these people are the backbone of the company and contribute to things being way late and overbudget. It doesn't take that much digging to see multiple Boeing products that were way late and overbudget. (787, Tanker, 777X, CST-100).

Great work if you can keep your job.

      Pros

Great benefits Challenging Many different opportunities, you don't have to do the same thing your whole career.

      Cons

Layoffs are the "norm" at Boeing, they happen almost every year. It is an unfortunately reality that most employees have received a layoff notice at least once in their careers.
