I worked at Boots Opticians full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Get to learn ALOT straight away
    - People are fairly nice

    Cons

    - Was thrown into the deep end in store with NO training - its only until you go to their main branches that you will be trained for a few days at a time.
    - Expected to know everything straight away as they are such a small store

    Advice to Management

    - Hire MORE staff at once to help each other whilst you dispense everyone, it is WAY too much for anyone to do the job alone with next to no training!!

I have been working at Boots Opticians full-time

    Pros

As per any job the staff you work with name or break the job you work at. I work with some good staff members which make it good. Pay is ok but I do 4 long days 9-7 so I get 3 days off a week.

    Cons

Management tends to stay in the office
Deal with complaints yourself, managers can’t be bothered.
    Same thing everyday

I worked at Boots Opticians full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people you meet are friends for life

    Cons

The amount of work you do and the amount of effort you put in isn’t recognised.
The pay is disgusting for how much effort you put in.
No rewards or recognition for going above and beyond.
Work load is unnatainable. If you can complete the amount of work you’re expected to complete you must be a God.
Managers are unreasonable, have no knowledge on optics, and expect to boss people around instead of helping and guiding.
The training scheme is ridiculous, not helpful, boring, you’re treated like children when on courses and then in branch you’re chucked into the deep end with no help at all.
The systems never work, always down, phone lines never working.
You don’t even get a minute to breathe you’re that rushed off your feet because of being short staffed? And why are you short staffed? Because no one wants to work there, the atmosphere is awful.

    Advice to Management

Come to the real world. Expect that sometimes things don’t work out and you won’t make enough. At that point, lower your targets, see that people aren’t spending as much, and that’s it’s not us that aren’t selling.
