Pros
There are some wonderful people who work at the museum who genuinely want to do good, and it can be a very fun environment.
Cons
Very low pay, even by museum standards. Employees are rewarded for work anniversaries with $10 gift cards (an amount that doesn't even go up for each year you've worked there). Busy work days just mean getting pizza or snacks, no other compensation. Management/museum senior staff doesn't appreciate the contributions of floor staff, even if they're creating or leading programming. Floor staff are treated more like children than adults.

The staff are supportive, especially the managers. People are considerate and there is a culture of helping each other, whether that means helping clean, covering each other for breaks, or talking through stressful happenings.
Cons
Pay is pretty low. Sometimes office positions open, so there is room for upward mobility, but not generally.

Does not value/pay its employees

Fun environment. Great if you like working with kids. Can be a great Museum starter job.
Cons
The Museum does not pay its employees a livable wage. This is most evident at the floor staff level, but is also true for coordinators and others. Salaries are extremely low when compared to other Museums in the Greater Boston area. Many of the floor staff work multiple jobs in order to pay rent. Desired qualifications (advanced degrees, etc) are not consistent with salaries. Instead of real perks or bonuses, staff are given pizza parties or donuts on busy days. For work anniversaries $10 gift cards are given out.

Great company to start in if you're interested in education, museum work, or fundraising.

Healthy team-oriented culture & a good work-life balance. Really feels like the people care about you, not just your performance.
Cons
Slow advancement opportunities; a good place to build skills, but not a steady career path. You need to figure out what you want to do to make the most of your time here.
