Pros

Having the option to make my own schedule for the most part. Having co-workers that were willing to help out at almost anytime was great.

Cons

The company does not care about its employees. They are out to save every penny they possibly can, even to the extent of working the nurses so extremely short staffed that it was unsafe for the patients.

Pros

The pay is pretty fair and will gain a lot of experience and insight working with different patient populations.

Cons

Overworked, always short-staffed, patient to staff ratio is dangerous, often only able to do just enough to get the job done. Floors are VERY tech-dependent. No one is held accountable for their actions, so usually, things get missed or overlooked. They would rather be short-staffed than pay an extra person on the schedule to come in. Often look at numbers versus acuity. Management would rather be friends than a leader.

Pros

Good medical/dental plan. Pretty good pay, considering you don't need any qualifications to get hired on. They will train you. Working in a very diverse environment, giving you a lot of life experience if you perceive it that way. Many ways to grow within the hospital. You get to know people from other departments and can move around pretty easily if you want.

Cons

A lot of politics and people that are so unhappy at their job. You hear constant complaining, but people will stay for years. Bringing overall moral of the department down. They keep lazy people that do not work or do bare minimum because the union will fight to keep all it's employees. Very strict time limits (understandably) on completing a task. And depending on who your lead for the day is they will either help you sink or swim. Alot of drama, backstabbing, and cliches. It's like highschool in a hospital environment. Always short staffed. The job can be hard, and the things you deal with on the daily (biohazards/death/devastated family members etc..) can be tough. There is always something going on.
