Indeed a Great Place to Work

21 May 2021 - Senior Customer Service Manager in Mumbai

      Pros

Employee and customer oriented organization: It's rare to find a place that values its employees as much as its customers. CACTUS is one of those rare places. Free breakfast, team outings, dinners, happy hours, remote work from home opportunities are few of the pros that can be listed.

      Cons

None that I can think of

      Non-professionals!

      Pros

      Flexibility to work from home

      Cons

Innumerable. I don't think its worth my time anymore, but still I will mention the top most: 1. Leave management 2. They need managers with strong background! You can't just give any random person the responsibility of entire team and put it to slog. Please get a PROPER OPERATIONS person 3. Capacity problem but not ready to acknowledge 4. HR doesn't do their job! They are just there to cover up for failing management. Employees are not cared for 5. Exploitation. There is no limit to working hours. You need to start your day at specified time but log off only after you are done with set of tasks, now even if you skip your meals, sleep, breaks, its none of their business

      Cactus Communications Response

Hi, Thanks for your feedback and sorry to hear about your experience at Cactus. I’d like to take the opportunity to clarify a few things: We're constantly trying to improve experience and introduce innovation in our systems and processes. We have continuously worked on work life balance over years and have improved our capacity planning as well as build our communication around leave management during hiring and onboarding. It has evolved over time and we continue to stay focused on it. We are sorry to hear about your experience on this. In a service industry like ours with clients across the globe, it is very important for us to cater to business needs while managing leave requests or our committed deadline to customers .This also helps us to be resilient during tough years like 2020 which was difficult for all companies where we continued to support Cactizens in every way as Cactizens supported our customers. At Cactus, we send out an annual survey on manager effectiveness wherein we invite Cactizens to candidly share their views and use this inputs to continuously improve employee experience, apart from HRBPs having regular 1-1 discussions with cactizens through the year. Additionally with the move to a remote setup, we have also launched an AI chatbot recently for cactizens to give us real time feedback. Further to this if there are any concerns that you’d like to detail out or clarify with us, please feel free to drop me an email at upasna.thadani@cactusglobal.com and I’d be happy to assist you. Regards, Upasna Thadani HR Business Partner

      Poor pay, heavy workload

5 Jul 2021 - Academic Editor in New Delhi
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

No pros except you get to work from home

      Cons

Please take my advice seriously and do not apply here, there are other companies out there like enago, jobsforeditors.com, Scribbr etc., They got heavy work from me and they promise that they would pay you the minimum amount Rs 30,000 during the introductor period. But they did'nt, the only paid me Rs 8,000 for the entire month, though I worked day and night, and when i tried to email the people in charge along with screenshots proving the number of words I edited, they did',t reply, I tried sending several emails to contact them and not one person replied. It's a scam and they get all the work done by the contractors, they expect you to work 24/7 which is inhuman.

      Cactus Communications Response

Hi, thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry about your experience. At CACTUS, our Leadership group and HR team has been actively involved in implementing several new processes and systems which can reduce the workload of the team. We also value and encourage team members to share ideas on how processes can be automated, and how the team can spend less time on non-value adding tasks. To ensure work-life balance is maintained, we also take into consideration Cactizens leave and shift preferences. In this current scenario of moving to a virtual set up, the HR team has also rolled out guidelines on maintaining better work-life balance. We have also launched an AI chatbot recently for cactizens to give us real time feedback, apart from rolling out several surveys all through the year where we invite Cactizens to candidly share their views and opinions, and use these inputs to continuously improve employee experience. It will be great if you can reach out to me so we can discuss your specific concerns in detail. Please email me at upasna.thadani@cactusglobal.com Regards, Upasna Thadani HR Business Partner

The same mundane editing every day.

      Pros

Pay is good. Once you get the hang of editing you'll be able to do more and hence earn more. Work from home.

      Cons

There is no variety in your work. All day you'll be sitting in front of a computer and editing. You will barely have any contact with people from the company as it is almost entirely an individual contribution role.

      Great place to work in!

9 Jul 2020 - Associate Editor in Mumbai
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

CACTUS is a great place to work in, especially if you are fresh out of college. There is minimal workplace politics, everyone is super friendly, managers are approachable and the perks in office are great. There is scope for horizontal and/or vertical growth in the company. Everyone is friendly and there is no dress code. Extremely flexible in terms of work hours and work from home.

      Cons

It gets a bit tedious, to be reading and reviewing thousands of words and dozens of papers on a daily basis. But that's part of the work description Also, most days, your work tends to stretch on beyond work hours.

      Pros

      Work from home is allowed

      Cons

Mandatory work on all public holidays (only 4 holidays you can choose in a year), work is 24×7, absolutely no work-life balance, work is forced upon even if you are overloaded with assignments, no career growth, no regard for an employees health, unaccounted salary cuts (depending on the clients feedback), very poor payscale, unreasonable terms of contractual agreement, expectations to work full time on sat and/or sun.

      Cactus Communications Response

      Head, Editorial Services

Hello! Thanks for sharing feedback. If I understand correctly that you were associated with CACTUS as a contractual editor, you weren't obliged to work on all public holidays. It is true that we offer close to round-the-clock support to our customers, something that's becoming more of a need given the nature of work our customers do and the geographies they come from. However, we don't expect for our editors to work round the clock. Contractual editors do have the flexibility to choose work hours and days so long as the requirements of the contract are met. I apologize if any of our communication made it seem otherwise. As is the case with most contractual appointments, our ability to provide opportunities for career growth is limited. That said, we do try to make newer services and projects available to eligible contractors to facilitate learning and growth. Again, I apologize about the poor experience you've had working with CACTUS. We continue to work on improving our editors' experience. Christine
