I have been working at Capita full-time for less than a year

    Pros

No shift pattern, no work on weekends, good salary and flexibility to organize your workload. There are 10 week training course, with loads of support from several teams within the company

    Cons

At the beginning is complex to adapt to the role of DA from a health care professional position, but it gets better quickly.

I have been working at Capita full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Treated like professionals and adults at all times, able to run the job as your own business when you are good with time management and keeping to targets. Really flexible with work life balance. Approachable, professional and friendly staff from everybody i have met.

    Cons

Plenty of driving if you don't live close to a clinic.

I worked at Capita full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The other new recruits on the training with me were lovely but we were new and naïve.

    Cons

Very unsupportive. Hours necessary to complete the job were twice as much as you were paid. It was a spoken expectation that you would work into the early hours if necessary to get your reports in to their targets which were unrealistic. Furthermore, the only reports that got approved were ones that either suggested no PIP or the barest minimum. We were hired to give our professional opinion and we consistently told we were wrong. Has NO understanding of mental health conditions, of the people we were interviewing, or of their own staff (not me thankfully). I left because it seemed we were being forced to take away benefits from people who needed them.

I worked at Capita full-time for less than a year

    Pros

None as the Job title is false

    Cons

60 hour weeks. No regard for staff . Asking you to amend reports which ethically you knew were correct the first times . Basically Capita are just the DWP in another name and they are there to save the Government money . Ashamed to be part of such a scam If you believe there are no weekend work ha think again . Be prepared to work 7 days a week and for less than 10 pounds an hour as the high salary is false when you divide the hours by the wage .If you bring this up with management they say you are being paid well enough and basically everything you say is ignored

I worked at Capita full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Free coffee and pastries during training. The training counts towards revalidation. Nice office to work in. Some of the staff are nice.

    Cons

The advert describing the job is very deceptive. It was it is a 37.5 hour week. This is not true. The shifts are 8-1 or 1-6 totalling 5 hours. That's 4 claimants to assess. The write-up time for each of these is 1.5 hours each. That's a further 6 hours added into your day. Then there is preparation for the following days assessments which takes at least an hour. In total you are looking at a 12 hour day. Also the position is advertised as permanent. One of the first things they tell you on the training is that if you don't pass the training you will have to leave the business. This is no idle threat either. They fired 5 other trainees who did not pass. Furthermore is you do manage to pass the demanding and intense training at your first meeting with the line manager you are told capita will dismiss anyone who does get 5 acceptable reports in a row in the first month and a half of starting the job. This applied to keeping up with cpd course too.

I worked at Capita full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They reimburse your NMC fee... thats it.

    Cons

Inadequate training. Dishonest initial job description. 14 hour working day including writing up reports, ammendments and preparation meaning your effectively paid half the salary advertised. Cut throat corporate environment - They fire you if you dont pass the course. Boring, repeatative report writing where you say the same things over and over again. Hour upon hour spent at home writing reports. No job security as they will fire you if reports not up to scratch and done in time. Poor support from management who are non-clinical. High staff turnover as hardly anyone lasts more than a few months. Harsh internal auditing of reports for new starters demanding unreasonably high standards. Isolated job working in the community. Too many claimants to see too soon. Unreasonably short length of time to complete assessments. No caring about claimants, attitude is to just fire questions at them interogation style.
