    Project Manager

I have been working at Capital One for more than 3 years

    Pros

Boring problems, wants to be like Amazon

    Cons

Can be a great place to be, but you must come in at the right position. If you start out with low pay then it's impossible to recover without leaving the company.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Capital One full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Compensation is at times awesome.

    Cons

Calibration process is cut-throat Fakeness is encouraged Management does not care about workers There is NO work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

You force company culture on associates while doing absolutely nothing to resolve deep-seated problems. A cookie and balloon WILL NOT make your good workers want to stay. Everyone is SCARED to speak on how they really feel about anything as they will be booted for not being a mindless, always smiling stepford.

    Pros

Company has great benefits and values. Ability to work flexible hours for work/life balance. Beautiful Plano campus with lots of amenities.

    Cons

As with any company, it depends upon your individual manager and how he/she upholds and lives the values of the company as to how your day-to-day job will be great or not.

I worked at Capital One full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lovely offices, good benefits, (esp pension), gym, technology

    Cons

Horrible performance management (and some managers) Cliques (a lot have since gone though) No parking Long termers immune to performance management process (how some survived year after year was a mystery)

    Advice to Management

For a forward looking company, they had a draconian performance process and it was far too cliquey.

    Pros

Some of the best reasons a person should work at Capital One includes the culture, drive for excellence and the sense of entrepreneurship that resides in all areas of the company.

    Cons

There are some cons to working for Capital One. As the company continues to evolve, some ideas and projects are not given enough time to begin to work prior to strategy or direction changing.

I have been working at Capital One full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great people to work with and awesome benefits. The culture is very healthy and you can move easily from one department to another via the posting process.

    Cons

They periodically go thru downsizing exercises and people have to find new jobs. We tend to hire really smart people who have very little common sense.
