I worked at Capital One full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

great salary, awesome benefits, great company culture

    Cons

They have been branding themselves a tech company but their internal systems are horrible Also tends to be a good old boys club when it comes to promotions. Employee evaluation process is horrific. Job Security, towards the end it felt like you always had to keep your running sneakers around your neck......

I worked at Capital One full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Smart people, great compensation & benefits, great culture. Really enjoyed my 10 years!

    Cons

Frequent SR. VP turnover could cause your big project for the year to suddenly become de-prioritized leaving you at a disadvantage for end of year reviews which focus heavily on what was rolled out to customers. Each new VP wanted their own new project to take priority.

I worked at Capital One full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Great engineering team. Engineering leadership is solid, has a good attitude, and SDE talent that punches above their weight - Capital One has good senior executive leadership and as a whole they genuinely try to be a good actor in society - Work life balance is great because most people lost hope on delivering meaningful work. Many people leave as early as 3pm or work from home with little or no notice

    Cons

    - The Seattle team is not like the rest of the company. A lot of what you read on glassdoor does not apply to this team even some benefits - Seattle job responsibilities for roles are different which makes working with the enterprise inefficient - Seattle team is organized in a by silos that prevent work from getting done effectively - Project/program management team does not follow industry best practices - Large and toxic design team that impedes engineering work and delivery - Management caught up with trivial office politics that includes personal rumors - A large amount of middle managers (Directors) that spend a lot of time squabbling between each other to fulfill their personal interests over that of the associate, company, and customer -Project / program managers are uncommon in rest of the company. This causes low growth opportunities and a abstract concept of calibration for the job family

    Project Manager

I have been working at Capital One for more than 3 years

    Pros

Boring problems, wants to be like Amazon

    Cons

Can be a great place to be, but you must come in at the right position. If you start out with low pay then it's impossible to recover without leaving the company.

I worked at Capital One full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Worked at Capital One Lab location in mid-town NYC in a product/technology function. Very progressive culture. Very talented engineers and product people. Business and technology well-fused together.

    Cons

Some organizational setbacks. Some political issues. These are expected given size of the organization and the business we're in (banks are heavily regulated).
