I have been working at Capital One for more than a year

    Pros

I've thoroughly enjoyed working for Capital One, Bangalore office (for over 2 years now). Some of the pros are: - Interaction with the manager and senior leaders - Focus on growth and development of the associates - Liberty to manage their time and projects - Collaboration with the like-minded peer group

    Cons

Dynamic and ambiguous nature of the projects; requires associates to focus on research and development

    Pros

    Cons

Absolutely no impactful work Complete dictatorship of one man Very much biased performance management: it's based on the impression like how much ca you oil your managers/ "the dictator". Increment for selective people without announcing Completely inefficient managers

    I worked at Capital One

    Pros

Flexible work environment Nice colleagues Data Intensive

    Cons

Managers try not to be concerned with your career interests. One will have to push a lot to get things done. Promotions can be unfair and totally unjustified.

I have been working at Capital One full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Amazing work/life balance - Great perks - Many exciting products with a great mission of changing banking for good/building products for the under/un-banked - Movement across teams is supported - Great coworkers, everyone is encouraged to bring their full self to work and it makes for a great environment - Lots of development opportunities

    Cons

    - Culture is different across different lines of businesses, sometimes you can get a bad manager/leadership chain - Reorgs happen often and communication from leadership on why is oftentimes subpar, you should be prepared for change - There are a lot of gripes from employees about the promotion cycle because it's very strongly dependent on the manager you have/the networks you've created, not necessarily on just your contributions, another challenge of a big corporation

I have been working at Capital One full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Work location can be somewhat flexible when you need it to be. Less is best, just say you have kids or family obligations like everyone else.

    Cons

Performance Management - Once they lock you in, they'll promise you the moon and stars and then blame the performance management rating system when they don't deliver. They do not pay you more or incentivize your growing skillset, which is why they cannot retain top talent. Based on the current performance management rating system, the likelihood of you being promoted is 15%. Most are only promoted then they throw temper tantrums and threaten to leave... who wants to work like that? Also, the wage gap is real. That's why it is "frowned upon" to discuss what you make. If you're a female, it's pretty much guaranteed that your less qualified and lower performing male colleagues make 15-25% more than you do. As your skillset grows, leave Capital One. They do rarely offer compensation when moving across LOB's or departments. You lose money by "growing within" Capital One internally. A lotta talk, no action. Look elsewhere.

I have been working at Capital One full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Not a lot of stress. Great pay, work life balance, and perks

    Cons

Lots of silo's. Not much senior experience and sometimes too many shiny objects.
