    Cons

Absolutely no impactful work Complete dictatorship of one man Very much biased performance management: it's based on the impression like how much ca you oil your managers/ "the dictator". Increment for selective people without announcing Completely inefficient managers

    Pros

Progressive company for the financial services industry. Encourages a diverse workforce, and pays competitively. Great overall environment

    Cons

Advancement within the company is difficult and not always a product of performance or results, but can depend on your direct manager and his/her reputation within the department. Performance management in general is a huge pain point at this company, and is not likely to change.

    Advice to Management

Our performance management system is not the competitive advantage we would like to believe it is, but rather we are successful in spite of our process.

I have been working at Capital One full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Extremely collaborative, flexible, and high growth environment. - A lot of autonomy (remote, flex hours, and the ability to work at any office), which is a blessing for senior level individuals in the field such as myself. - Top of the line hardware and tools (MacBooks/HPBooks, iPhones/Androids, LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed Prime, you name it, we have it) - Excellent pay structure, and an amazing set of benefits...

    Cons

    - While the environment is collaborative, the structure of recruitment is built as a pseudo agency style environment, with constant metrics - reminder of metrics - and assertion of how metrics are everything. -- This in turn, removes collaboration, and people tend to have to watch their back to make sure candidates are not stolen, or have multiple recruitment associates reaching out. (This can get "backstab-ish" like...

    Advice to Management

Loosen up on metrics. Performance is attainable when you don't force your recruiters to look over their shoulders every month. Promote collaboration of teams under single management groups, rather than the mass, and invest more in what your recruiters want to do next with their careers (scrum, PM, tech, etc - create pathways). Lastly, and for all that is holy, please update Towers - the place is awful.

    Pros

    Cons

Performance management practices cause competition vs teamwork HR is useless to help out if you have a horrible manager If you want to keep your job, plan to work after hours and weekends to be able to do more than your peers Reorganizations continually rotate managers and associates in and out of roles so they end up with job assignments on a whim that you may never have...

    Advice to Management

Get back to the respectable place of your origin when associates could feel great about doing their jobs well and character mattered. If a manager has had multiple HR complaints filed about their style or questionable ethics, there is a problem with them continuing to manage people.
