I worked at Cayuga Centers full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The work that is done with immigrant children. The pay isn’t bad either. Great for social work experience...

    Cons

I felt like I was in a high school environment almost. I still can’t believe the people that were in upper management, it felt like people got promoted based on who they knew not on experience or professionalism. Too much pressure from state. Environment was a NO NO for me

I worked at Cayuga Centers full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I had an amazing team to work with.

    Cons

The agency is just unstable and is a sinking a ship. Most members of leadership are inexperienced and under qualified. In my observation they have been handed positions based on their prior/current relationships (Personal/ professional) with executive leadership members. You see nothing but good ole fashion nepotism. The CEO utilizes intimidation tactics, is a bully and with threaten the security of your employment if you disagree with his opinion. They will paint a pretty at first and will tell you what others say is untrue, but as someone who fell for it, please don't. This agency will only stump your growth and will give you anxiety. The reputation is so bad that other provider agencies will not even consider candidates that have Cayuga Centers listed. Simply put, this agency is a sinking ship and one should not waste their time at this agency. People do what ever they want - despite city/ state/ federal standards and regulations.

I worked at Cayuga Centers full-time

    Pros

Working with the migrant children is immensely rewarding. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of supporting them. The other clinicians were compassionate advocates. Everyone at Cayuga does really care about the kids.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations for documentation. We are required to document the documents, that we documented. Meanwhile, the actual work that matters, helping the kids, was not prioritized.

I worked at Cayuga Centers full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Co workers become family Co workers will assist in any way Able to get over time. Not an excessive amount of home visits. Depending on your supervisor, you will be guided and helped throughout process. Working with the kids

    Cons

Management often times doesn’t keep it professional in terms of how they speak to employees. Policy change very frequent. Being on-call for a whole week means you need to be by your phone in case of an emergency at anytime. Don’t really learn much besides filing paperwork Have to store documents on computer as well as physical hard file which can be a pain
