It was great! And then HealthNet came along.

      Pros

I loved the work and for 6 years was happy with what I did. I knew I made a difference and did my job well. Not many has the same skill set I did and there was always work to do.

      Cons

      1. It's an old white boys club. I say that as a white individual. It sucks that's how MFN rolls. They say they value diversity but they don't. They will have a token diverse person in an exec role but they're there to be a face, not make any changes or impact. 2. They pay really well but that hurts when you leave. 3. They layoff the good people and keep the undereducated white males. Why? See #1 above. 4. They don't want you if you are female and over 40. Think I'm lying? See the number of females 40+ who got hit in the January "reorganization." 5. HR is a joke. Talent acquisition couldn't find their rear ends with both hands and a map. So many excuses on why they didn't do their jobs. 6. MFN said the HealthNet employees needed to learn the Centene way and the Centene way would prevail. He lied. 7. They never entertained the idea of working from home. At all. Even a 25% WFH option would cut costs and improve morale.

      Pros

      Insurance is ok…but that’s all

      Cons

      1. Very Disorganized 2. Relies on consultant companies to do development during short term engagements. When the consultants leave their knowledge leaves and your left to backwards engineer the system that they built. 3. There is no such thing as a SME when gathering requirements. No one knows anything 4. The company grew too large to fast. When acquiring new companies they failed to make any effort to integrate technologies and lines of Business 5. I didn’t know that PI Planning could be 5 days long 6. As a Product Owner I was expected to sign off on very complex architectural systems that should’ve been signed off by an architectural manager BEFORE DEVELOPMENT STARTED!! 7. Very waterfall 8. I personally asked, for around six months, for an Architect and Tech Lead for my team… I was given 3 BA’s and a Scrum Master… 9. No support from Leadership 10. They don’t believe in org charts so no one knows who reports to who, which makes it Very hard when gathering cost functional requirements. 11. Post pandemic, don’t expect to ever work from home. The CEO is really old school and believes in buts in seats 12 hrs a day If you are in ST. Louis this company may look amazing, however if you are in Charlotte there’s so many more options.

      Great company

      11 Mar 2019 - Data Analyst

      Pros

      - Huge company with many opportunities for growth if you are willing to move and continue to learn an improve your skills - Working at a health plan away from HQ can feel like you are working for a small company, this can a pro and a con

      Cons

      - No work from home or flex schedules - Doing data analytics at one of the health plans away from corporate HQ can be challenging because all of the technical data teams that build and maintain the databases are at corporate HQ. Often it is difficult if not impossible to even find out who the right person is to talk to.

      Pros

      • Full time employment • Work from home • Set schedule

      Cons

Where to begin: there are no health benefits from a company that gives health benefits to people, they don’t care about employees well being able went on anxiety medication due to this job, my boss would insult his right hand employee who was just trying their best along with many of the other employees there. If you like being micromanaged, sign yourself up for a job at Centene.

Avoid if you don't want a vaccine mandate

      Pros

      This was an ok company.

      Cons

I hate the direction this company has gone in. They have a vaccine mandate as a general condition of employment--regardless of whether you can work from home or have objections. They had a testing option, but that wasn't woke enough, so they removed it a few weeks after announcing it as an option. They mention the vaccine mandate is in part as a responsibility to the community. It appears our CEO is mandating the vaccine for his is own virtue signal campaign. I am looking for new opportunities for this reason alone. I'm not the only one.

There can be sunshine but bring your umbrella just in case

      Pros

Can negotiate rates upon hiring , great health Insurance plans, lots of opportunity to move around, all benefits/deductions, are exempt status are handled electronically. If your supervisor likes you, chances are you will succeed

      Cons

Low balled upon hiring, micro-management in some departments, 30 min lunches in some departments, supervisors can block department transfers at free will, supervisors can fire and harass employees and HR does not help, hiring process from job fairs can be disorganized. Hours can change including weekends with no notice or objection (even if those aren’t the hours agreed upon per hiring), Sr Leadership/Mgmt walk around like everyone else is beneath them. Not fans of work from home prior to covid.

      COVID-19/worst mistake EVER!

2 Mar 2021 - Customer Service Representative (CSR) in Rancho Cordova, CA

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Able to work from home and pay was okay, then it goes downhill

      Cons

Hired and told it was such a wonderful company (all lies) Training goes on for about a month where your bombarded with information that you couldn’t possibly hope to remember and will leave you overwhelmed. Told that you can just access the information later and you’ll be fine. You’ll have access to a group chat where they’ll help you. No. They just throw you out to the customers and say good luck, who by the way won’t be pleased with the fact you take a while to find what they need. It was super stressful and the equipment provided cuts off what people say so you have to ask customers to repeat a lot. Their system is horrible and had numerous problems which you have to report. You’ll be expected to complete calls in a short time. My advice don’t work here it’s just a lot of stress. It’s not worth it at all. Your recruiter will tell you how great it is but listen to your gut and say no thanks. Unless you enjoy call centers I wouldn’t recommend this position to anyone. I can assure you there high turn over rate. If I could I would’ve rated it lower.

      Mixed bag

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Team is great- they and my manager are fantastic. Working from home has been great though that will not last. Number of vacation/sick days is average as is the 401k match.

      Cons

so many opportunities to improve communication across organizations but nothing seems to change; No vacation rollover; Dress code is archaic for the times; COVID vaccine mandate across the board regardless of whether you work with public or vendors; lacking any matching program for charitable contributions; generic titles makes it difficult to find people in specific departments for collaboration or assistance. Agile roles like Scrum Master and Product Owners are often shared across teams or are dually held by analysts.

Old, outdated company culture. Stay away.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

*Co-workers that are passionate about the healthcare space. *A lot of co-workers said that they are unhappy with work-life balance. I found balance, at least in my role. *Commitment to DEI.

      Cons

*Very formal. The offices are very formal, the dress code is very formal, the way people talk is very formal, the HR policies are very formal. *Old-school CEO with old school beliefs about growing talent. *Enjoy work from home. You likely will be expected to go back to the office 5 days a week in the near future.

Needs to move with the times

21 May 2021 - Talent Acquisition in Saint Louis, MO
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great salaries and benefits. Awesome people to work with, for the most-part. Challenging work (in a good way) and a lot of development opportunities. Centene University and team trainings.

      Cons

The old, outdated, thinking of the CEO regarding WFH opportunities; he keeps saying that we are the future of healthcare, but does not really listen to the employee's needs; it's his way or the highway. We thought that would change after COVID, but he's made very clear that he doesn't trust people to work from home and be productive. It's also very difficult to have cross-teams to agree on a plan that works for everyone, especially with "old school" management afraid of change.
