      Meat Grinder Job

      Strong training, development of sales skills like cold calling. Good base comp

      Cons

      The job is a meat-grinder. You will be expected to work 60-80 hours a week and told that getting huge results are in your control regardless of territory. They will tell you that you can make lots of money. The reality - no matter how hard you push, most customers just don't want to buy and won't buy until they're ready. Only a small number of reps make the money they will tell you that you can make, and most have been with the company for the while, have given years of their time after hours for the company, and have good territories. Many territories, like mine, lacked the number of prospects that were necessary to drive the kind of sales that were expected. Territories with no business parks have the same quota as territories with several large business parks. Goals and expectations for results are common in sales, but Centric asks for reps to do much with too little. Many companies have an office day for emailing, updating your database with notes, and building proposals, but Centric expects all of that to all be done after after hours, despite the fact that all of that takes about 15-25 hours a week. The database Sherpa is terrible - really really slow and clunky, which isnt great when you are expected to submit a bunch of data entries every night. Turnover is very high across the company, despite some great highly motivated people working there. It's no surprise why.

      -President is a good person, and it's obvious he cares about his employees -Friendly people

      Cons

      -Do not have competitive pay -It can take over a month for sales reps to get their commission for deals due to the long sales cycle -Outdated applications and processes -The company culture initiative is one sided. You’re expected to value, embrace, and adhere to the pillars but you will not receive the same from management -Minimal growth opportunity for roles outside of the Baltimore office -Constant drama: interdepartmental issues, selling outside your territory(sales), hierarchical relationships etc. -Communication is a continuous issue each year within and outside of the various departments. There is always talk of ways to improve it but there is no action or accountability for the change -Micromanaged work environment -High turnover for sales reps on a consistent basis. As of the past couple months there has also been a steady increase in non-sales employees leaving. -Not a stable industry due to the decline in the office environment needs

      Great team - the Sr Corporate Recruiter knew his stuff and was incredibly helpful Terrific President/CEO Very friendly environment, people always had a smile and said hello to one another Higher ranking people within the company treated lower ranking people with respect Benefits were very solid

      Cons

      Compensation was not well structured for this type of role Micromanagement through metrics (some were helpful, others were just for the sake of metrics) No opportunity for remote work for a job that is easily done remotely Work life balance was iffy. Did not generally have to take work home with you which was nice but you also could not leave at 4:30 if your work was done for the day but were expected to stay until 5:30/6:00/6:30/whenever if your work wasn't done for the day at 5:00

      - extremely competitive and performance / merit based pay scale - commission paid out based on GP for deal versus % of overall revenue - supportive executive team who truly want the best for their employees - comprehensive and continuing sales trainings held on weekly basis - strong and positive company culture with exceptional values / belief system - opportunities for career advancement based on sales performance

      My Experience with Centric

      Pros

      - Great and very motivating comp plan - Leadership team are all extremely genuine and good people who will do everything they can to better help you develop and ultimately achieve success - High degree of autonomy given to reps

      Cons

      - Base salary is relatively low given geographic location - Revenue / GP expectations and quotas from leadership (especially during COVID) can feel overburdening and relatively unrealistic given our inability to cold call in-person - Copier / Printer industry is experiencing a steep decline
