Excellent employer - 25 years for me

Jun 5, 2019 - Senior QA Tester in Toro Mafi

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Management listens to improvement ideas from lower-levels employees. HR stays current with trends, many excellent employee benefits. Lots of long-term employees, so lots of understanding of proposed changes without having to explain how they currently work. A senior VP a few years ago commented to me: "I am amazed at how many long-serving employees this company has. " Somewhere about 700 FTE, and least I knew, only about 20 part-time employees

      Cons

Regular changing of software technology being purchased gets frustrating constantly learning new products. Example: our Internal instant-message software supplier has been changed, I think 4 times in the last 5 years.

      Growing pains under new leadership

Jun 24, 2021 - Software Developer Lead in Toronto, ON
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Excellent remote work culture, even before COVID - Good work/life balance and flexibility to attend to appointments, family, etc - Large application that needs to scale: developers will learn a lot working on the flagship SaaS product

      Cons

      - New senior leadership have thrown strategy, planning, and direction in disarray. Staff feels that they're chasing targets that have been changing weekly for months - Lack of clear direction despite hard deadlines creates pressure for the teams to constantly throw away work and rush to deliver new work. - People are resigning on an almost weekly basis, making it harder for those who stay to keep pace - Projects seem to be managed based on the value they deliver to executives' reputations, rather than the value they deliver to customers - Company is expanding with new management and senior leadership positions, but existing staff feels that these positions have been reserved for friends of other senior leaders based on who has been hired - Communication between leadership and staff appears to be poor with frustration on both sides

      Cronyism

Jun 23, 2021 - IT Professional in Melbourne
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Work from home and a growing industry with employment opportunities.

      Cons

Cronyism defined is the appointment of friends and associates to positions of authority, without proper regard to their qualifications. Only bad management would allow this to happen. Favouritism in the workplace results in low morale, a bad culture and overlooking good performers. My advice, stop making your friends managers, it's obvious. My advice to head office, look into this. Ceridian would be a much better place to work if a few things changed. First, the idea that NPS scores drive everything has resulted in a terrible team environment. Too often those steering the ship will not attend calls, remain silent on calls and throw colleagues under the bus. Why? Are they just trying to save their own name? Good customer service would be clearly communicating the project to our customers from start to finish. What services will be rendered? What resources the customer should have in place (technical, data focused, business process re-engineering)? How often are we going to touch base? Examples of what will be asked of them etc. Too often our customers are left in the dark which results in unnecessary frustration on both sides. Support your team, take the time to understand issues so they can be communicated clearly. Corners are being cut, take ownership for your end of the project. Aptitude is important, not everyone can fill every role. Try being more realistic with hiring. Does the candidates skills align with the role?

      Phenomenal Company to Work For

      Jul 9, 2021 - Director, Services
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Excellent Work-life Balance - Lots of internal communication - Flexible work arrangements (Work from home, even prior to Covid) - Caring and Empathy from direct and indirect management - Amazing Time-Off Policy (Unlimited Vacation - within reason) - Best-in-class culture

      Cons

      - Long term employees may find it difficult to work their way up the pay scale through promotions - Work load ebbs and flows, so can be take a toll on work-life balance at times (not often, but it's there) - A lot of unnecessary administrative tasks that get in the way of actual work - Recognition has suffered over the past couple of years - Excellent benefits packages. Even pets can be insured.

Overwork everyday including weekend, no overtime pay, no life, live like robots

      Jul 11, 2021 - Implementation Consultant
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great coworkers, good knowledge based resources

      Cons

      - Felt great until on boarding experience. When you get your own projects you will realize that you basically need to be a robot. You need to overwork every single day even on weekends, but don’t ask for overtime pay. They do know that it’s a lot to handle for one person but they think it’s okay to add more and more projects on your head. You are also expected to do your internal admin tasks apart from client work and take trainings on time, otherwise you lose your performance. - They talk about work life balance all the time but we all know it’s a total joke. There is only work and no life for the employees especially in implementation and support. -Company is completely revenue focused. They don’t care about anything else. - Unlimited vacation- don’t begin to think WOW, you can never take it due to the amount of work you’re loaded with. - Overwork and stress cause knowledgeable resources fo quit - Brutal and unrealistic deadlines to complete projects.
