I worked at CertainTeed full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Office Staff was helpful and friendly

    Cons

I was hired on as Automation Engineer. I received no support and no help from any-one. The attitude of management was “We dare you to try and succeed in this position” I was set-up for failure from day one. This place is intimidated by and fears education. They have no plans for improvements and perform operation moment to moment by the seat of their pants as this is the way it has always been done. The control system was thrown together via trial and error by one person who is protecting their job status. Management remains in job protection mode. Teamwork is dangerous and scoffed, exposes ones weakness for others to exploit. If you take an engineering job at this plant be prepared to instantaneously know the entire plants controls and electrical system with no help or documents, work long crazy hours, in a dirty environment, for low pay. I was never so happy to leave a job as when I left CertainTeed Gypsum. You are certain to be teed!

I worked at CertainTeed full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    easy commute from my home

    Cons

safety culture goes out the door when the company knowingly has exposed asbestos and does not address it due to costs. Yearly moral and ethics training are constantly overshadowed by repeated anti-trust class actions in glass, insulation, and drywall division in Europe, US and Canada. Far too many breakdowns from antiquated equipment would result in constant calls throughout the night.
