I worked at CertainTeed full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Pay was fair and that was the only thing fair

    Cons

Nothing was clear-Employees and basically no one has any value for the company- Too many websites, procedures, forms and documents and none were being followed by anyone or was just pretending it was being followed-Not professional at all-Many others to say as cons-It was all basically just cons, that’s why I’m saying worst experience ever. Out of 100, their point would be less than 10-Average retention period was... less than 2 years and they were the people just wanting to have income and do nothing

    Advice to Management

Shut down the business for a while, restructure the company, tell everyone about the importance of being ethical and professional and then reopen the business. That would be the only way it might survive

I have been working at CertainTeed full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Flexible work schedule -company car and expense account -good benefits -opportunities to move between different divisions -good mix of products to offer -moderate overnight travel given large territory sizes

    Cons

-poor training (both at the start of job and ongoing) -upper management does not seem to care enough about the team they manage -HUGE corporate mentality (AKA- tons of -too much European influence which does not really mesh well with US demands -huge disconnect b/t sales and production facilities -slow to react to changes in industry allowing competition to constantly get ahead -new "innovative" products are... forced down the pipe and usually are unfitting for consumer demand -must seek MULTIPLE approvals before making ANY moves in pricing which always seems to have a negative consequence -customer service and satisfaction is far from being a top priority to this company which greatly impacts sales team as well as the customers' perception of the company in a very negative way

    Advice to Management

-take a minute to think about what your sales team ACTUALLY has to deal with on a day-to-day basis -LISTEN to your sales people and actually take into account what they are telling you -BE MORE TRANSPARENT, constantly keeping your sales team in the dark leads to a serious distrust from your subordinates
