Pros

I was hired in Bangalore Drive. Interview happened in five star and I got good relocation package with air tickets for family and 5 star hotel stay for 15 days.... Salary offered was good with free cab and awesome free food..... Anybody would feel like heaven.... Really shocking story starts here. Read cons section for details.......

Cons

First day at Ciena I was introduced to Buddy and team... People were asking me do you already know someone here, who all took your interviews... As if hiring is not done on merit basis here. clear fishy environment... Buddy was running away from me .. No one in the team is interested in talking.. I went for Lunch alone... My manager was still supposed to Join Ciena... NO one was willing to answer my queries. I was given trainning videos and link which were made to create confusions........ 3 weeks went like this. I told the same to director but he was like I can't help, you have to live with it.... Then my manger rejoined Ciena 3rd time... He already resigned twice and joined third time...... Now, this guy's linked in profile is missing and from his behaviour he looked like never managed a team before, he was still in his immature days and was behaving like a techie peer to me... He was having less experience than me.... When he saw my profile he got jealous and started playing games with my tasks... he included my buddy also in his group and they started playing games against me to let me down.... they gave me a script with 2500 lines with while loop starting @ line 1 and ending at line 2500 with not even a single comment and function in between on top of that they started changing design/requirement of task everyday to make my life miserable. They together used to go for smoke outside office at least 10 times a day to plan politics... Escalation did not help @ any level.. HR was dumb and helpless .. Senior Management not interested and do not want to improve anything..... Finally before I could think/blink they asked me to quit because of performance issues within 2 months of joining. Someone already warned me not to join Ciena.. But he did not tell me his true story.. Now, I knew the reason..... People are living dangerously here with low level politics without any work and have become puppets for good salary and perks

Cons

<> - Too much in-fighting between teams, internal politics, blame game - New-comers are not welcomed by old team members. No knowledge sharing, no documentation either. - Hierarchical org structure, seniors expect a "yes sir" attitude - Poor technology stack, nothing new to learn - Following age old tools, processes. Ad-hoc development cycle

Pros

1) free food, but that's missing in WFH 2) free cab, or you get 3k every month above CTC 3) good mediclaim, include dental and vision OPD as well, 2.5k every year for specs 4) no timesheet filling, chill for leaves, take any number of leaves anytime 5) good CTC

Cons

1) Poor quality of work, good work is generally done at Canada development center even when you have good tech stack used in the project. Don't get bluffed by bigdata technical terms 2) Classical support and maintenance work in telecom domain at Gurgaon center 3) HR practices are missing completely, your manager is your boss, he can make or break things easily, HR never reaches to you. HR is only active on glassdoor not in Company. 4) no monthly, quarterly or yearly meetings with you manager to understand your concerns. They only cares work is done, no focus on your personal growth ever 5) no visibility of work, no sprint practices still you work in Agile to fix support cases 6) Existing architects, 3A and above would treat you like slaves and you can't do much about it as Manager only cares/trust these existing employees. 7) you do not get anything to lead(independent work e.g. design) until you spend like 3 years here. you are always considered outsider by existing employees who have tenured here.
