High turnover hoping to get lucky ?

      Pros

Nice building / location / friendly

      Cons

What do you expect from a company that hires 200-250 people every year for 5 years but remains the same size ? The animation division is a place set up to be a just-in-time production facility that manages talent like a commodity and makes adequate "stuff". They made a conscious decision to make a variety of low budget animated films hoping to "get lucky" on a couple here and there (?) but their IP decisions and leadership for the most part don't excite anyone.

      Pros

Some of the artists are lovely!

      Cons

HR is a mess, they will low ball you and bully you into feeling like you should just be grateful to have a job. Management will ask more of you than the role you are being paid to do. Thé films they work on in feature animation are so low budget and look like they were rendered in a video game engine. The films take years to release after their completion so be prepared to work on your reel outside of working here.

      Pros

      The artist are a delight.

      Cons

Management is TERRIBLE. Zero communication. The movies we work on aren’t that great. Very low budget. HR is a waste of time, makes you wonder which side they’re on...

      Feature animation, stay away

      Pros

-There are windows -Great location in Montreal ! -Work space is bright. Although, they are taking over more floors in the building, they wont match the quality of the of the main floor amenities. -My PC was a powerful one -Great and friendly supervisors -If you are an animator this might be a not so bad place to gain experience. If you are a compositor, this might be a not so bad place to be annoying …

      Cons

-There is now WIFI, you read this right. No WIFI. -Salary is average -Don't' expect overtime policy to match Montreal's standards -Terrible pipeline, get ready to do the very same thing over and over again because your work just collapsed under your eyes because the issues are huge and they won't fix anything. -They pretend to hold meetings and to listen to their people so they would improve... but, in fact, they don't care and won't do anything at all. -Most of their key people are not very competent. You will actually spend most of your downtimes busy wondering how they got their position in such a "big" studio. It is like a group of school girls that have no idea what they are doing. They will force you to apply "solutions" most studios or school would forbid. -You will be told your production is late, but the whole floor is browsing Facebook and/or YouTube. Although, they banned Spotify, which maybe would only have you listening to music WHILE working instead of being distracted. -They invented ¨mandatory overtime¨ due to horrible project management -While on ¨mandatory overtime" you will be given cold chicken and cold asparagus as a meal from the cheapest caterer in the city. -Low budget projects with no future -Very clicky with a serious amount of bullying going on: from rookie coords and production managers that have no clue about the steps of making a CG animation movie. They will stand behind your shoulder, ho yeah they will, just to rush you, probably because they're planning on building their career on artist's back. I also witnessed an artist being maked fun of in a review room filled with people from all departments regarding a new interface, and this was legit for them, but how unprofessional. Who wants bullying in the workplace? Make yourself a favor and stay away from this place for god's sake

      Animation: Not as advertised

      Pros

Really positive team, great people. The studio itself is extremely nice and well maintained. The IT team is absolutely great and they keep track with constant demands. The emplacement of the studio is in downtown Montreal, near food courts, shopping malls and the Old Port. Really good work opportunity for a short term contract.

      Cons

The people in charge are often incompetent, but highly loved by the management. Sometimes, there is a lack of respect for the artist's job and a lot of negative attitude. The projects are really low budget without a big future and they demand a lot of overtime, because nothing is planned properly. They have too many projects going on at the same time and they have difficulties managing all of them.

      Pros

The team is awesome and it is easy to grow in this company. It's licated in a good spot of montreal!

      Cons

The projects are really low budget with poor stories and the directors do not look really competent. Most of the leads are not liked by their team.
