I have been working at Cloudera full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is a company where lot of innovation happens
It is a company with full of great people like Doug Cutting, Yonik, Tom White etc...
It offers career growth for every individual.
It is a pioneer in the Hadoop Distribution (CDH)
It contributes lot of projects to the open source world.
It is best company for every engineer.

    Cons

Interview process is a bit slow.
A few facilities for India employees.

    Advice to Management

For India employees, provide the accommodation at the time of joining. Start office in a few more locations in India like Bangalore.

I have been working at Cloudera full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - The Team/People you work with are amazing and there is always someone who will drop everything and help you. This position is one where everyone can "win" & be successful, so the idea of helping one another get to 100% creates an amazing support team.
    - Intellectual Environment - The company is staffed with resources who are intellectually curious, and being that "Big Data" is so abstract, it creates a collaborative and experimental environment; constantly learning, constantly evolving.
    - The Products/Technology - It's so fascinating, and constantly changing, so there is always something amazing you can discuss with others.
    - Credibility - Cloudera was created by resources from the leading tech companies, who had to "deal" with the data problem first & saw it firsthand. The creator of Hadoop also works for Cloudera, so we are lucky to be the Leaders of this industry.

    Cons

Technology is not something you can force yourself to take interest in. This particular area of analytics based technology has to be something you already enjoy in order for you to be a real asset to the organization.

    Advice to Management

Always keep the fun, games, drawings, contests, pub crawls, Vegas... we wouldn't be the same without it!

I have been working at Cloudera full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

First impression: "Whaoo nice offices, very creative interior decoration. Beautiful view on Budapest. I would like to work here"
And to not forget, very kind HR personnel.

But really why would like to work here?!
    1. There are separated "pod" but they still cover each others task. So it is great chance, challenge to pick up a new skill and thats is motivate me.

    2. There is 3 months learning period as I understood, which is great.
No mater how experienced is the new candidate, the environment is new and it need time to adopt.

    Cons

As I am currently not working in Cloudera I do not have any experience what could be done better.
Hopefully I will have a chance.

I have been working at Cloudera full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Cloudera is still the best-supported Hadoop distribution on the market today. They are making strategic changes to drive their business in the ML space for long-term growth. Executive leadership is strong and very transparent.

    Cons

The organization is not flat which can be useful for promotion opportunities but harmful when it comes to making an impact. As the hierarchy builds, so have office politics. Recruiting takes a very long time. I honestly believe they are losing talent due to the slow recruiting process and a "grow with Cloudera" mantra that is just a mantra.

    Advice to Management

An enterprise-class product does not require hierarchy to be successful. The product is great but you still have to be nimble and aggressive if you want to keep growing.

    Pros

Excellent work culture, interesting project, fast paces

    Cons

    Advice to Management

To be competitive with other companies, we need to have some the benefits they offer (401k matching, paid leave)

I worked at Cloudera full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

High tech company working on a lot of neat projects with Big Data.
One of the dominant players in the Hadoop market competing with Hortonworks.

    Cons

Hadoop has not received widespread adoption that Cloudera was hopeful that it would. The Cloud players are now dominating this market.

There will always be on-prem Hadoop use cases out there, but widespread adoption no longer looks like a foregone conclusion.

Combined with the technical hurdles around IT operations in setting up a Hadoop cluster, this is a very difficult sales job.

    Advice to Management

Buy a commodity server company and sell your own appliances. On-prem shops would love this CapX model.

I have been working at Cloudera full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Genuine empowerment of employees, be prepared to use your initiative, take control and run your own business franchise.

    Cons

The pace is breathtaking, time management and prioritisation tough - everyone wants to talk to Cloudera!

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work - the Exec team here is one of the best in the industry. Take care not to lose the culture, pace and agility as the rapid growth continues. Keep making smart acquisitions and integrate and monetise quickly.
