    Pros

Cognifide's best asset is the people it attracts. Unfortunately, it is misguided in what behaviour it rewards and what behaviour it punishes.

    Cons

Having seen that some Glassdoor reviews have been taken down (by Cognifide rather than the posters) I felt obliged to put out some information which is not being accurately represented by the reviews remaining. Who should work at Cognifide? If you are a collaborative team player, if you are willing to put your ego aside, if you are willing to help others develop their skills and career even if it means you don't get all the credit, you will not progress at this company. If you are hugely ambitious, even at the cost of others and are willing to take credit for the work of many, if you see mentoring/line management as a status symbol rather than a responsibility, if you are willing to turn on the people who have helped you, you will do well in this company, so long as you don't anger the wrong people. The offices Cognifide has long struggled with a divide between its two offices. It has never managed this well and it has escalated to all-out war. Say the wrong thing to the wrong person and you will have a candidate rejected, a pay rise blocked or even training cancelled. UK HR sits beneath PL HR and is hamstrung by the strict rules and processes imposed. Progression Training and progression is essentially frozen while the company tries to keep up with its unrealistic targets. Highly trained people are punished for being on the bench, when they have no control over what projects they are placed on. Recently, a number of very intelligent people have been committed to 6 months of low skill content entry on client site. Cognifide asks that their people put their progression and learning on hold for below-market pay and no training which might otherwise fill the gap. It asks their people to keep their heads down and not complain, all the while rewarding those who fight and scream for what they want. Racism/Sexism It is not coincidence that this behaviour is only rewarded in young, white men. If you are aggressive, women and men receive completely different feedback. A woman will be told that she is making enemies. A non-white man will be patted on the head and sidelined. A white man will be promoted. You only need to look at the gender gap in many departments to see this in place. A very senior woman was made to step down from the board after having dedicated years to the company, because she was constantly having to fight battles and supposedly "made enemies". There are departments where women make up less than 20%. A graduate was recently removed from the graduate scheme, being elevated to a position he should not have gotten to for several more months. It is not a coincidence that the person who was elevated was a white man. The team he was added to is 100% white men. Men can sexually harass junior women and nothing will be done. In fact, women tend to receive the blame for having been involved. Should you join? I said above that the best asset Cognifide has is its people. The problem is, these people are leaving in droves. If you are interviewing at Cognifide, unless you are very individualistic, I'd steer clear.

I have been working at Cognifide full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The work culture and atmosphere is one of the best I have worked in. Cognifide is very non-hierarchical and there are no barriers to approaching anyone, whether that's the CEO or interns. The work environment is relaxed and people produce some really excellent work, it's energising to work with some really smart people. There is plenty of opportunity for anyone that wants to carve out an area of specialism, and the way the company is growing, there will be no shortage of opportunity in the future for people that want to develop in their careers. Cognifide has an amazing list of clients and working here gives you exposure to some of the world's biggest and most influential marketing teams and industry thought leaders. Progression in Cognifide is very merit based. This means you have to have built up experience not only when things are going well, but also learning how to deal with things when they don't run smoothly. I think this approach can be a little frustrating for people that want to progress rapidly, but it does build a good foundation of experience for people that want to develop a solid and well rounded base of experience. The work environment is very social, and employees often organise things out of hours, whether that's after work beers, or weekend events.

    Cons

No company is perfect, and in the case of Cognifide, it has been growing really rapidly over the last few years, which always puts some pressure on the company and creates the need for change. The acquisition by WPP and the move into the Wunderman offices has been a significant change for a company moving from a startup to a fairly large business with quite serious clients. The additional stress of the final year of earn-out has created added performance pressure, but even then it's not as pressurised as other companies I have worked in. There is a bit of uncertainty with some people about what will happen when Cognifide becomes more integrated with Wunderman and WPP, but this can create opportunities too. Overall there are few major negatives and I enjoy working at Cognifide

I have been working at Cognifide full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Initially this place appeared to be inclusive and forward thinking backed by innovation and support for people and ideas. It looks like the promises of a fast track career development are empty and are simply a smoke screen for certain people on the rise, or people in management trying to solidify their roles, or to keep themselves relevant.

    Cons

Appearances are far more important than actual work. There are some increasingly disingenuous and incompetent people in charge, and while some aspects and some people are great it is not a surprise that Cognifide is a fading star that will ultimately end up being a playground for the nasty and intransigent managers and intransient employees filling a short stop gap to something better.

I have been working at Cognifide full-time

    Pros

The people. You will never meet a more engaging, funny, hard-working bunch of people.

    Cons

I have been at this company for more than 5 years. This place used to hold culture at its heart, but over the last year the direction of the company has changed. The new office is in disrepair and used as a main thoroughfare by other agencies so the old culture has certainly changed. The board no longer feel invested in the work we do - opting to work at the higher levels of WPP and Wunderman instead of looking inwards to make sure their people are still happy. Several key members of staff have recently left or resigned, something which doesn't seem like a good sign. There are so many petty political arguments going on it makes it hard to get anything done. The increased focus on professional services over and above development has led to a further split with development teams in Poznań and leads to projects where everyone is screaming at each other with no hope of delivering. The few people who are able to bridge this gap by dropping the ego and working to bring people together are punished for not being suited-up sales people who shine when presenting to clients (and who would not have gotten the time of day 4 years ago). This leads to the wrong people being rewarded for poor behaviour and it hurts the culture even more. Projects are failing, people are leaving and nothing seems to get done.

I have been working at Cognifide full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great people, some brilliant minds mixed in there! Graduate scheme is great Social culture is really nice

    Cons

Get left on projects for years at a time - often offsite so you don't feel like you work for the company any more Some people in the office can be abusive and nothing seems to get done about it Salaries are low in comparison to market rate Support services are very underfunded No UK IT - you have to go through Jira to get anything done by the offsite team Feels like the company I joined is no longer there If you want a promotion, you have to be super a specific type of person. If you are anything other than a born presenter, you will be forgotten about even if you are doing amazing work
