    It feels great to be a public servant for a progressive state full of smart civic-focused colleagues. In general, work hours and benefits are better than the private sector.

    Cons

    Government politics make it challenging to really make meaningful progress on change, as leaders are always looking to be the favorite of incoming administration.

    Great opportunities, steady work and salary, good benefits and time off.

    Cons

    It isn't personal like the private sector. Lack of appreciation or respect / credit. Sometimes it gets uncomfortable and untrustworthy like you are being side blinded. If you have the right manager, you will do great. If not, good luck!

    Take a look around at your employees under you. Appreciate and give credit where credit is due. Everyone is here to do a job. When they do their job, you look good.
