I have been working at Compuware full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Not that I can think of quickly

    Cons

Too much focus on APM with little growth prospects - total revenue is miniscule with lacklustre average deal size APM revenue is overly dependent on a few customers - sooner or later, the customers will get smart and dump Compuware and it will be the end (at least it will be quick) The revenue is not sufficient to sustain the number of employees and infrastructure Major mainframe revenue is quickly depleting with no rescue plan in sight.

I worked at Compuware full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are some good engineers here.

    Cons

Compuware has done a great job at managing to prolong it's inevitable retirement into obscurity. Everything about the place, from it's tech, to it's carpeting, to the way its CEO's suits fit, screams late 90's. This is a company so completely out of touch with the tech landscape that they unironically refer to Java as "new". Join Compuware for the opportunity to see a company married to a platform from 4-generations ago desperately struggle to maintain relevance by shamelessly enlisting it's employees to "like" the C-suite's posts and tweets. Recoil in horror at sight of "webservers" written in IBM assembly which violently and carelessly fling invalid HTML at unsuspecting HTTP clients. Write a JSON parser in a language older than your father. Build tooling utilized by only the most reviled corporations in existence, within the time-frames set by a coked-up sales team growing at a rate 5 times faster than the engineering department. Spend the best years of your life creating something that will immediately be considered "legacy".

    Pros

Good people Low pressure Casual work environment

    Cons

Non-mainframe products are given extremely low priority Tech stack is very out of date. 5-10 years behind Any attempts to modernize the tech stack was ignored It’s hard to translate any tech skills/knowledge to future jobs. Unless you plan on staying in mainframes for your entire career. It can really limit future prospects.
