Con-way is a good company that expects a lot from it's employees and pays well with good benefits.

      Pros

Good wages, good benefits, strong company - doesn't lose money.

      Cons

High pressure/stress for management employees - sometimes the "what have you done for me lately" attitude by upper management regardless of you work record and continued dependability and efficiency - it's all about the numbers whether you can control it or not.

      Pros

Fair Pay. Plenty of work. Good Benefits. Stable company. Industry leader. Staying "under the radar" and proving yourself dependable and hard working are the keys to survival. Rocking the boat, is not a good plan.

      Cons

Long hours. Long hours. Long hours. Runs are short, long hours on the dock in extreme weather. At least we get 10 hours off. Everything is based on seniority, not performance. Terminal Manager not concerned with late hours we are held at other terminals being used as dockworkers.

      Pros

Good benefits, great location, friendly employees. In general Con-way was a solid place to work. It was not difficult to be successful at Con-way.

      Cons

Leadership is so vastly varied in their skills. What makes an employee successful in one department is not meeting expectations in another. There are plenty of people who have skated through adding very little value for years and are completely overlooked. Higher level leadership does not "walk the talk." As a shared services organization, many employees were treated poorly by the business partners in the field and leadership did not do a great job of supporting employees.

      Pros

A very stable, well managed company with good benefits and opportunities to advance if you are willing to move to other parts of the system. Pay is good but some competitors pay better.

      Cons

Sales support is lacking in some areas. CSR's are not properly trained to provide consistent customer service or sales support.

      Pros

Good Pay, good benefits, stable company, They offered opportunities for advancement and a good relocation package, excellent employee training and always looking for ways to improve the company

      Cons

Started out as Con-way and really valued people who helped them grow and expand than something changed around 2012 and upper management started alienating the tenured employees who were there at the start

      Pros

Work independently, car supplied, time off when needed, good training, promote from within. Good company structure also a professional image. Good benefits and salary.

      Cons

Hours could be long, driving far for various meetings and training, profit sharing plan canceled. Lots of pressure on the office staff.

      Pros

You can make money. Good Benefits' ok retirement. Plenty of advancement potential with college degree. Co workers for the most part are exellent guys to work with.

      Cons

Company has an idea of where it wants to go but because it is so completely different from what they have been doing they're not sure on how to get there; or at least there's no evidence of it. To many college minded people running company without real pratical experience in moving freight. Lousy hours, to much about #s little to do with the reality of the situation.

      Pros

Employees built the company and felt they had a stake in it. Good benefits and bonus every year. Excellent medical and dental coverage.

      Cons

Very restrictive work rules. Non - union but operated like a union company. Changed to centralized corporate management in Michigan has a lot of employees feeling disenfranchised. Salary and benefits are now constantly eroded. Bonuses have disappeared. managers let the supervisors deal with all the problems and blame them if complaints escalate above the local level. Miserable hours.
