I have been working at Connections Academy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Flexible, Work from Home, Autonomy, Treated like a Professional, Don'e have to deal with behavior issues

    Cons

I have been here for almost 5 years and when the administration is good, life is good. We have new administration this year, that micro-manages more than I would like, but overall, this job beats any inside of school.

I worked at Connections Academy full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Opportunity to work from home Team atmosphere

    Cons

Limited opportunity to differentiate instruction for students. Travel for testing and field trips not just for your grade level-which means you are leaving your class “running” for the day with parents and students emailing and calling without you there and there is not a substitute teacher taking your place. They can call other teachers for help, but it’s not the same.

I worked at Connections Academy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The students and families. Many teachers are very passionate and great to collaborate with.

    Cons

Inexperienced and unqualified leadership. Lots of clicks. We required to do things like fudge graded to make the school data look better.

I have been working at Connections Academy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    You can work from home

    Cons

Leadership is ignorant of Educational principles so they spend their time on creating spreadsheets and clerical "auditing", coming up with ice breakers for meetings, determining what type of candles to put in gift boxes and sending messages to each other about how wonderful they are. This is seriously sad for any student in this school. Passing grades are given to almost everyone who signs in to the system - if any employee questions this process, they are basically forced to leave the school. Money is the driving force of SC Connections Academy - not education.

I have been working at Connections Academy full-time for less than a year

    Pros

great benefits when it comes to pto

    Cons

The pay is laughable for the amount of work you do. You are expected to know a lot (while supporting 20 plus schools.) They are so desperate right now they will hire anyone and the families are vile. These families will curse at you, belittle you, and don't expect support. Instead get interrogated about the situation for twenty minutes. Managers, supervisors, team leads will literally avoid dealing with these families. They literally question everyone and everything. You are literally a underpaid punching bag. They preach professionalism but frankly don't adhere to that. Team Leads are often disrespectful and big headed. Document verification team verifies things wrong, customer care transfers calls to the wrong department, call monitoring is just vicious, and frankly training did not prepare me for the reality of this job. You are micromanaged by people who monitor your calls, webmails, and call notes. You have to ask for permission for everything. Breaks are scheduled but you're almost never making the times that are set. No sense of team or support. The whole experience has been nothing but demeaning for me ( by the clients we serve) and outright embarrassing with how people communicate with one another here. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

I have been working at Connections Academy full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Work From Home is THE selling point for this job. Overall Positive Culture Health, time off and 401k Offered

    Cons

No real growth Low pay Glorified Call Center and this is not made clear in the job description or at any point in time during training. Can be cliquey Company does not provide all the hardware you need to do this job comfortably. They provide a small, used laptop and most of my team has spent precious pocket cash getting the second and 3rd monitor and hub and blue tooth erasers to work a call center job comfortably.
