I worked at Dealertrack full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Good people in general - Good coffee selection - Good kitchen

    Cons

    - People leaving company rapidly - Everybody so busy and nobody cares - Outdated software - Too much time spent on maintenance and existing clients vs. face-lifting their product and getting new business - To get help or knowledge transfer almost impossible

    Advice to Management

Invest more in people, ask them what they need instead of telling them what to do.

I worked at Dealertrack full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Incredible pay and benefits, and overall great people. There are a few bad apples that unfortunately stick around while they shouldn't.

    Cons

Teams do not interact. Very heads down to get your job done while not understanding the entire business.

    Advice to Management

Relatives and spouses working together is unethical - this practice needs to be done away with. Also, check in on your employees to see how they are doing.

I have been working at Dealertrack full-time for more than a year

    Pros

People I work with. My direct manager is the best. Good vacation and RRSP plans.

    Cons

People are demotivated and as a result smart effective employees are leaving and sadly senior management/director seem not to care and believe people are disposable and replaceable. There is no effective evaluation system in place and your good work is never recognized. New changes in the company's overall structure seems like a chaos and the purpose/direction of it is unclear to employees. Pay is far below the market.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees and motivate them. A company is as good as it's employees.

  5. "Mediocre job with high expectations"

Current Employee - Client Service Representative

I have been working at Dealertrack full-time

      Pros

Good team leaders on some of the teams. Good training program.

      Cons

Management was strict and often overbearing to the client service representatives. The software engineers would release updates quarterly and big parts of the system would often fail with no way to fix them for the clients, who were often upset that what they paid for didn't work.

I worked at Dealertrack full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Some coworkers are great. Able to work from home when horrible weather hits. PTO and medical benefits are great!

      Cons

Lack of leadership and direction, no communication! Middle management and some senior management in many areas are not supporting employees. Many managers are hired due to friendships or is a family member but not qualities or experience. Many talented employees and managers have been leaving due to layoffs, moral and reasons listed here. Training and Product departments are very ineffective. Many of them have...

      Advice to Management

A company should know the dangers of silence, allow your employees to speak up, they may be full of ideas about how you can do a better job for the clients and the company. If they don't speak up, you may not know the issues that are going around. I got tired of seeing talented, experienced, hard working and caring co-workers leaving to find other companies that truly care and value them. Take care of your employees...

      I worked at Dealertrack

      Pros

There is now a new GM and most hope and pray she will see things for herself and and stop this free fall.

      Cons

The environment continues to become more and more toxic.  Their leadership is just pathetic.   A free hand given to one director that has led to rampant nepotism.  There is absolutely no sharing of information anymore.  They keep bringing in people who are as arrogant and incompetent as themselves from the organization they worked at before.  Not too long ago all work was brought onshore and now this director is a friend...
