    Pros

    - A history in visual effects worth being proud of. - Compensation is roughly in line with the standard.

    Cons

    - Backstabbing, political environment. - Carrots waved in front of employees with no intention of following through. - Ancient, frustrating pipeline. - There seems to be a gung-ho attitude by senior staff members that we can burn through newer contract workers by brute forcing everything as opposed to careful planning and organizing your core business efficiently. - No...

    Advice to Management

Develop a clear sense of direction of your visual effects business. Address the political issues. Modernize your pipeline. You can't live off your history forever, understand that your reputation is being tarnished by allowing a festering back-stabbing environment to thrive, and the best artists are actively avoiding your company.

    I worked at Digital Domain

    Pros

Some interesting projects. Limited autonomy to try and do something new and creative.

    Cons

Extremely bad politics. Staff that have been there for a long time are hostile and territorial. Departments do not work well together. No communication from management. Pipeline is disorganized and reinvented every project because people always leave after their experience.

    Advice to Management

    Clean house.

I worked at Digital Domain full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great projects to work on. The people were great to be with and are very talented. I also loved the Venice location.

    Cons

The communication on the shows were lacking especially between the studios. The pipeline is always being worked on, which is very old and needs an update.

    Advice to Management

Find out the strengths of the artists, the challenges they are looking for, and how they can jump into those challenges, even if they are not in the department.

I have been working at Digital Domain full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You meet a lot of interesting people at the revolving door.

    Cons

Missing: Management, business planning, business process, pipeline, meaningful organizational design, communication planning (!!), consistent use of standards and tools, technical managers, sales pipeline, business operations plan - utterly missing Found: reckless team players who are most focused on their own ideas and not quality...

    Advice to Management

Get it together. Everything from location plans, impending RIFs, and attempting to get the bids by having your teams in Canada are epic failures. You have not invested in the infrastructure of the company to make it global, competitive, or sustainable. You need a communications manager, an operations manager, a strategy analyst and a Sales leader. Without better performance, you will be kissing your own backsides goodbye...
